22-year-old singer songwriter Joe Gallacher is an up and coming artist on the British Music scene and admirers of his music include Turin Brakes, Martha Wainwright, The Proclaimers and Radio One's Edith Bowman.
Like most young artists Joe played in bands around his local area in his teenage years. It wasn’t until 2003 that Joe really started to learn his craft when fellow Scots and friends The Grim Northern Social offered him a crewing job on their tours of 2003. It was on these tours that Joe also befriended The Cosmic Rough Riders and The Proclaimers and started to hone his song writing skills.
In 2004 Joe slowly started to establish himself as a solo artist and in the first half of the year he supported The Grim Northern Social's front man Ewan MacFarlane on his solo acoustic tour. This was a great learning experience for Joe and soon he realised he had to get away and experience new things, so he moved to Brighton. Things changed almost instantly as Joe started to put a band together and record with immediate effect.
For the first time Joe was able to play his music with a full live band and as a solo acoustic artist. In 2005 more live shows followed and Joe's fan base slowly started to build and in June he was invited to support Turin Brakes at Glasgow Barrowland. More support slots followed that year with two more Scottish dates with Turin Brakes in October at Glasgow ABC and Edinburgh Queens Hall.
He also had a support slot with the McGarrigle sisters (mother and aunt to Martha and Rufus Wainwright) at The Corn Exchange Brighton and in November with The Proclaimers at Brighton Dome.
2006 saw the recording of “The Homesick Sessions” E.P and live shows in Scotland, England and France. With writing and recording still ongoing Joe made slow and steady progress through the year. A particular highlight was being invited onstage by friend Martha Wainwright during her Edinburgh festival perfomance in August. Also in November Joe was invited to Support Turin Brakes on their sell out nationwide tour. The year was ended by supporting The Grim Northern Social at their sell out Christmas Show in December.
Already 2007 has been a good year. With a few good solo acoustic shows under his belt and a few blistering shows with his live band the Instigators Joe is ready to keep on Playing live stages all round the country. With time in the studio looming and loads of new material who knows what this year will hold for the young Mr Gallacher!!!???

To celebrate my sister getting married I wrote a song called G & G Forever, written and produced by myself, available as a FREE DOWNLOAD on my page. I sang it in the chapel and reviews so far are: “Magical” “Movie-like” and “Your song was bloody brilliant and I can’t stop listening to it”. Honestly, I didn’t have to pay these people. Come and help yourself. JW x
