Joe Huron has been a quiet force on the Canadian jazz scene for well over 25 years. Mr. Huron’s distinct voice on the guitar reflects a calm introspection behind a curtain of strong melodic play. Delivering warm tones; he expresses all that is true with an unhurried approach of a seasoned player. For the listener, we are all but happy to relax with his overall intent of inclusivity.

Mr. Huron has chosen the trio format as a platform to communicate. Joe’s affable persona has gently propelled the trio forward; prompting an undercurrent of musical ideas and conversations. We are invited into a world of improvised expression and leave with an understanding of intimate collaboration. There are times when one believes that Tim Moore, drummer; or Stuart Steinhart, bass; know exactly where Huron is going -- not necessarily so. The level of listening and freedom between the three musicians keeps the music exciting with every subtle change of direction!.

The trio’s songbook is comprised of unique original compositions and older jazz standards such as ‘Solar’, ‘Body and soul’ and ‘Moore blues’.

Joe Huron was born in 1961, in the small town of Arnprior, Ontario. His father was a railman and given the nature of the work, periodically uprooted the family to different rural towns, residing close to the tracks. Joe’s youth was played out along side a landscape of scheduled movement and vibrational effect. At the age of 14, Joe began his musical path, thanks to an older brother. His brother’s eclectic record collection of rock, jazz and fusion inspired Joe to learn the guitar. A hand-me-down Gibson Acoustic was his first experience with a six string. With the support of a musical family, Joe continued throughout high school and got involved with local bands. At the age of 20, Joe enrolled in the jazz program at Malaspina College in Nanaimo, British Columbia. After graduating, he moved to Toronto to complete his studies at York University. Joe furthered his study of the jazz guitar with Canadian icon, Roy Patterson.
Playing gigs and festivals in the Toronto area, he once again was drawn to the west coast and played Expo ’86, Vancouver. The beauty of the west coast kept him there until 1990. Joe returned to Barrie, Ontario, married and decided to settle in the area.
Joe played in the Diana Wood Quartet from 1990 to 1998, performing at the Montreal Bistro in Toronto, the Barrie Jazz and blues festival, the Orillia Jazz Festival and various clubs in Ontario and Quebec.

The Joe Huron Trio was formed in 1998. The original members of the trio were: Tim Moore on drums, Kene Hyatt on bass, and Joe on electric guitar.

Throughout his career, Joe Huron has played at The Victoria Jazz Festival, The Vancouver Jazz Festival, Barrie Jazz & Blues Festival, the Collingwood and Orillia Jazz Festivals. He has performed with such artists as: Lorne Lofsky, Tony Wilson, Art Ellefson, Pete Thompson, Richard Underhill, Pat Labarbera, Bernie Senensky, Mike Murley, Bill McBirnie, Mike Malone, Bob Livingston and Floyd hall.

Tim Moore is an accomplished drummer who has been playing since the age of eight. Originally from the Barrie area, Tim comes from a very musical family. His love of music followed him through and beyond high school, during which he had an opportunity to be part of a clinic with Peter Erskine.
Tim attended York University, where he graduated with a degree in music. At York he began to turn his attention toward jazz.
Tim has played in major jazz and blues clubs throughout Toronto. Here are just a few of the artists he has performed with: Shox Johnson and the Jive Bombers, Peter Appleyard, Time Warp, Lorne Lofsky, Leon Night and his Neon Knights, Whiskey Howl, Jeff Baker and the Headhunters, Cameo Blues Band, Chuck Jackson and Michael Fonfara, Buzz Upshaw, Carlos del Junco, Pat Labarbera, Bill McBirnie, Bernie Senesky, Bob Livingston, Mike Malone, Perry White, Richard Underhill, Dianna " Nura" Woods and Lisa Hutchinson.

Stuart Steinhart has been playing bass professionally for more than 25 years and has had the privilege of recording and performing with many world-renowned musicians such as: Vinnie Colaiuta, Don Grusin, Tom Scott, Luis Conte, Nura, and David Blamires.
Stuart started on his lifelong study of music at the age of seven when he picked up his first guitar. In school he actively participated in all musical activities, receiving numerous Kiwanis Festival Awards. Over the next few years, with an immense passion for music, Stuart added the study of upright and electric bass, violin, piano and vocals to his repertoire. At the age of 15, his professional career took off as he found himself playing in clubs, concerts and theatre venues.
After high school Stuart enrolled in the Musicians Institute of Technology in Los Angles where he graduated from both BIT and GIT. Returning to Toronto, Stuart studied classical bass with John Gowan (TSO), jazz bass with Steve Wallace (Boss Brass), classical theory with Doug Watson and took various private clinics with greats such as Barry Harris.
Past owner of one of the largest state-of-the-art recording studios in Canada (Lydian Sound), Stuart kept a busy schedule recording, producing and composing music for albums, television, movies, and commercial projects. During this prolific period, Stuart continued to teach privately and perform live. In 2005 he moved his family to the Barrie area; in search of a more low-keyed lifestyle to continue his work.

Hey guys,

I'm hitting the road in a couple of weeks to raise money for War Child,
Coast-to-coast – 50 cities – ALL PROCEEDS TO WARCHILD. Why? 66% of all
war victims are CHILDREN. Shocked like me? War Child helps these
children that have been affected by war. Check out the new blog – the
whole story is up there. Love to have you be a part of it.

You’ll find a Blog, Tour page and a Bio page. I’ll be blogging daily from the road.

http://www.liamtitcomb.com/warchild/

I've also got this “widget” for a FREE download of 5
songs. Please send it on to your peeps – to help raise awareness of War
Child and the tour.

You can also embed this widget in your facebook, myspace etc. I’d really appreciate that.

We have permission from Sony ATV publishing to give the songs away from now till the end of the tour... So let’s work it.

Thanks,

-Liam
