"You can picture a young Brian Wilson playing Frisbee with Eric Matthews. There’s Matthew Sweet strumming his guitar while the telegraph wires hum and swirl like analogue synths. There’s Teenage Fanclub queuing for ice creams with Liam Hayes of Plush." Tony Heywood, Comes With A Smile Magazine
From Fort Lauderdale, FL by way of the boogie-down Bronx, Joe Kennedy has been a player in the Los Angeles music scene for 10+ years now. You may have seen him playing keyboards and/or guitar with artists such as Pete Yorn, Sia, Macy Gray, Idina Menzel, Inara George, Mike Andrews, Dewey Cox and the Hard Walkers, The Bird and the Bee, Meiko, Flotilla, Maw and Paw and Suki Ewers. Or you may be one of the lucky dozens who are familiar with Joe's debut album "Van Cortlandt Park," released on boutique indie label Neon Tetra Records in 2005.
Joe is close to finishing the follow-up to Van Cortlandt Park, which he hopes will see release in 2009. Joe also plans on participating in the February Album Writing Month challenge for the second time in 2009. Joe's song "Velvet" has been selected to appear on "14 Songs in 28 Days," a best-of compilation from 2008 FAWM.
Just came across a few fliers for Cutting Edge @ Rosebuds... aw, memories! Did you ever make the songs from that create-a-song-a-day challenge earlier this year available for download? I forgot to stop by here and mention how good those songs were. Hope all is well with you!
