Joel was raised on a small horse farm in northern Nebraska. Born into a musical family, he started playing many different instruments at an early age. “ Music was always easy for me, I could always sing harmonies and improvise a lead for just about any song I heard.”
Joel began writing songs and singing lead vocals in church as a senior in high school and over the years has developed his own style and sound. "When I write I just let it flow, don’t force it. I will sit down at the piano or pick up my guitar and if I don’t have a song down in ten minutes, I quit trying. My good songs have all come to me so quickly I couldn’t write them down fast enough!” His soulful, expressive voice and emotionally engaging songwriting leaves a lasting impression for the listener.
Joel resides in Wyoming with his wife of fourteen years and children ages ten and seven. He is currently writing material for his next album and when asked about it had this to say. “I am really excited about this project, “On the banks of the Niobrara” was fun, but the theme around this one is much deeper and more personal. I have done a lot of growing in the last two years. This one is going to be done solely for the Lord, for it is from Him this gift was given.” He hopes his new music project will appeal to a much larger audience. Time will tell!
