Starting his musical career in his homeland of Canada, Joel has recently moved to California to be closer to the 'biz'. Focussing on songwriting as a whole, Joel has written close to a hundred songs and has recorded about thirty of them, trying to build up a decent portfolio. Growing up in the South Pacific, Africa, and Canada, Joel's wild array of musical influences from Reggae to Afro-beat to Rock and even Hip-hop give his music a flavor that is unlike any other. So keep watching out for this rising musician as he continues make news (see blog entitled: Newspaper), win awards (see blog entitled: KLLY 95.3: 1st Place) as well as write and record songs.
By the way, we finally got some music up here. These are Joel's bedroom demos. These recordings are very low budget, low quality, and recorded in places like bedrooms, parking lots, and closets using the very finest welfare equipment including karaoke mics and a lot of duct tape. If you enjoy these even the slightest bit, keep tuning in. We can't say exactly what Joel has up his sleeves right now, but he is working with some very cool people in the industry and you're about to see and hear some fun stuff. Check out this video below.
joel! love the cover. have you heard the soundtrack for 'i'm not there'? i think you'd dig it. anyhow. love your music. if you're ever up n' van you and aaron should totally join musical forces for a show or two.
Thanks, dude. I just use GarageBand. I feel like the quality improved once I started taking the time to program some of the synthesizers that come with it.
Drakes Passage Way is very good. I love the background vocals and I dare you to find anyone who doesn't enjoy a good backwards guitar solo to start off a song.
Hey Joel i just want to take this oppoortunety to tell you that your music has inspired me to become a father one day...PS Gone for Good probly has to be your best song
so i thought i should have you know that today i was eating at T.G.I Fridays, and all of a sudden i heard Drake's Passage Way playing... i was pretty suprised
Hey Joel, Hope the wedding went well! Have fun in California! I am sure you will make it big after hearing some of your stuff. Teaching is part time, folkstar is full time! Maybe see ya around if you come back to Sylvan, good working with you this summer!
