ABOUT ME:
I am a record producer.
I play drums and sing in a band called Confide.
I play everything in a solo project called Avery Pkwy.
I song write for many other bands.
I'm a studio engineer that mixes and masters records of almost all genres of music.
I've basically been playing drums touring all over the world strait out of high school for the last couple years and was based out of San Diego for most of my life, and am now moved to a new location in Fresno CA as of October 07'
Joel Piper Recordings is my music production & recording company that is home to a quickly growing number of America's top musicians.
Here I'v created an environment for artists and bands of all kinds to be given the opportunity to progress as a recording artist by stepping up their standards in their recording quality and overall sound.
People seem to dig my work, being that i have only been doing this since October of 07 and i have been booked non-stop since the day i started. My low rates and legitimate production quality is my way of giving back to the music community, and just one way i am helping to add some integrity back into this seemingly cutthroat music industry.
Ive had the honor to work with some of the greatest artists in the world like my dear friend Caleb Que (Elton John ex lead guitarist, eric clapton's hero) and artists on the opposite side of the musical spectrum such as As I Lay Dying, Destroy The Runner, and Lower Definition.
If i feel your band has what it takes to be a signed band or gain management i will sometimes shop your music around (with permission) to labels/management/booking agencies.
I love creating great music. I'm always interested in new talent as well as seasoned. My greatest joy in my work comes from working with bands that love what they do, give it their all and are willing to take creative risks.
Recording:
My recording sessions are fast and efficient; with quick setup and tear down times for each instrument. 20% deposit is required to book dates. Payment for each session is required at the beginning of the session, no exceptions.
Mixing:
I provide superb mixing services at a very low cost. Mixing is an essential part of the recording process to make your hard-work and songs sound as best as possible. It takes a very complete understanding of your genre and direction so that your recording will sound the way its meant to be. I have experience in working with all sorts of genres from acoustic, to emo, to metal. Anyone can record a band, but it takes an experienced engineer to translate that recording to an overall polished mix via mixing. This is what separates me from other studios. I will mix it and make it sound anyway you want it.
Mastering:
I offer professional digital mastering that is competitive with commercial mastering. In other words, your cd will sound the same on anything it's played on, and your cd will be as loud as any commercial cd. Mastering is important to you because if you want your recording to measure up in the real world, it will have to be "sonically maximized" (aka mastered) in order to compete with the millions of cds that are already out there. No one likes having to change the volume every time they switch cd's, and no band wants to seem weak compared to other bands by having a CD that isn't as loud as most commercial CD's on the market. This is especially important to record labels as the label wants to release a quality product that is the best it can possibly be. And this is what mastering will do for you.
