hows it goin man. I've grown a little since last time we spoke(musically anyway). Hope all is good up North. Whats the scene up there like anyway. Not too long ago a band called system noise came down here from brooklyn, i know, i know needle in haystack. Check em out if you have some time, you may dig. Later.
There's a track on RHCP's 1989 album "Mother's Milk" called "Punk Rock Classic." It's pretty short-- less than two minutes-- and it features some pretty scathing lyrics (the refrain: "Put us on MTV / All we really need / Begging on our knees / Please please please please please"). Obviously a satire of something, but I had no idea what until maybe six years into my tenure at WARY when I first heard Cowboys From Hell, which had just been reissued (thanks in part I think to "Cemetery Gates" appearing on the soundtrack for one of the Tales from the Crypt movies). The music and lyrics for "Primal Concrete Sledge" fit PERFECTLY.
The only catch? Cowboys From Hell wasn't released until 1990.
