Bio
LINDEN - My name is Joe McAlinden. I used to have a band called Superstar who were originally signed to Creation Records in 1992 by Alan McGee and, up until 2000, released around seven albums. I have played/written/collaborated with many people including Teenage Fanclub, Big Star/Alex Chilton, The Boy Hairdressers, NOM, BMX Bandits, Matthew Sweet, Jim Lambie, Alan Warner, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and lots, lots more. I continue to write and record music from my wee studio up here in Argyll and am currently recording my new album at West Heath Yard, London with Edwyn Collins and Seb Lewsley. In a nutshell, that's about it. -

Happy Birthday Joe, hope you've had a great and sunny day in Argyll. Take care, Debbie
Hi Joe ... Good news about the long awaited new material - can't wait to hear it ... seems like an awfully long time since the NOM album - all the best
Thats a beautiful studio Sir !
Hope you're well.
Davie.
Hi Joe,
Thanks for the reply.
It was indeed a great night. Was there ever any recording of it....either video or tape?
We left sharp that night, just as Teenage Fanclub began their second song, as we'd been tipped off that this hot, unsigned new band were playing around the corner. The band were (groan!!) Ocean Colour Scene. Of the bands I saw that night, the wrong one became a major success. Boooooo!!!
Cheers,
Gordon
Hi Joe,
Thank you for allowing us onto your page.
I was a huge fan of your Superstar stuff, and consider 'Greatest Hits Vol.1' as one of the few musical highlights in the horribly dank year of 1992.
I once saw Superstar play a gig in a tiny club where you were supported by The Soup Dragons, Eugenius and Teenage Fanclub(who all played cover versions), and I'm sure Stephen Pastel was the DJ. I think it was a Creation Records promo night for Superstar, and it was absolutely brilliant and NOBODY ever believes me when I tell them about it.
Thanks for all the great music,
Take care,
Gordon c/o ~TEC~
