William Joseph "Joe" Olds was born in Conyers Georgia and currently resides in beautiful Royston Georgia. Joe's singing career began publicly at age 16, in Decatur Georgia at the Anniversary Celebration of the Amoco Oil Company. If you were to ask Joe he would tell you that his life in country began long before that. Joe comes from a family steeped in traditional country music. He knew at a young age watching his grandfather play his old Gibson Archtop guitar what he wanted to do with his life. And the country life was not something that Joe just decided to take part in. He's a real cowboy. He spent years riding the rodeo circuit in his early days and then made his living training and showing horses. No city boy in a cowboy hat here. Joe is the genuine real deal.
Joe's talents developed quickly and his eagerness to please a blue collar crowd was apparent from the first time he stepped on a stage. In July 1991, at the age of 16, he won the talent competition at the old Stonewall's in Norcross Ga. He was then asked to perform there on a weekly basis over the next year. Throughout the years Joe has had to opportunity to share the stage with some of the biggest names in country music including: Tracy Lawrence, Rick Trevino, Gene Watson, Ricky Van Shelton, and T. Graham Brown just to name a few. Those shows were great but not enough for this cowboy. Joe didn't rest and continued to refine his craft both onstage during his performances and off stage with his song writing.
Before long Joe was ready to take everything that he had learned and get it on tape. He began to collaborate with his friend Lee Davis who ran the independent label Rogue Records. Together the two put together Joe's first full length studio cd, This One's Gotta Be Right. Its traditional country sounds are rarely heard these days yet the message of a simple, honest, and hardworking life ring true.
Don't let the traditional country sound fool you. Joe's live shows are nothing short of extraordinary. His ability to connect with a crowd almost instantly always gets the party started early in the evening and keeps it going until everyone's had enough. Joe has taken cues from many great acts, including Garth Brooks, on how to entertain a hungry crowd. Catching one of Joe's live shows will definitely leave you with the feeling that you have just been witness to one of the greatest up and coming talents in country music today.
Joe recently took the stage in Atlanta to open for country music superstar Tracy Byrd. Take a look at the blog to see a partial list of cover songs performed by the band. Go to your local clubs and demand Joe Olds! For bookings call 706-248-4014 or 706-202-5190.
