關於 Joe Paice

My name is Joe Paice. I am a singer, pianist and songwriter from Bristol, England. I live in London. This year I have released my debut album, Wonderstruck. Samples can be heard on my website (http://www.joepaice.com).

Produced by Jim Barr (Portishead), 'Wonderstruck' features The Blessing frontline on horns - Jake McMurchie (saxophones) and Pete Judge (trumpet / flugelhorn / tuba); Niel Robinson (bass) and Eddie Johns (drums). Frank Evans (guitar) guests on 'Nuages'.

Roughly half of the songs on the album are originals ranging from the Jobim influenced 'On A Summer Night' to the paean to fry-ups 'Greasy Spoon', which was featured in a poetry anthology in 2005 with works by Pete Townshend, Willy Mason and Adrian Mitchell. Alongside the self-penned songs are a wide range of cover songs including Piazzolla's 'Libertango'; 'Where's The Love' from Michel Legrand's score for 'Les Parapluies du Cherbourg'; a Bing Crosby hit of 1939, 'A Man And His Dream'; and Marian McPartland's beautiful ballad 'In The Days Of Our Love' featuring a lyric by Peggy Lee.

Lady Haig Here is my Autumn Leaves Prince "JOE" - singing to my inner bebop ear and soothing the beast that feels like I want to come across The Pond with at least 25 Gardenias to drape over, and under your piano and, for good measure.. put in your button hole...and let you loose in some dim cafe with postage sized, teeny, weeny tables so close together you can hear the couple next to you breathe into each other's smokey smiles while you are up there, holding a mic like Ella used, a battery mic, as you sit on that that stool, gently tap the pedals of your plectron, the lights dim, no one is moving, your eyes are closed, waiting to hear a pin drop and the guy sitting in front of you puts his hand on the thigh of that sweet smelling woman who's shoulder pad is flirting with his...he wants to get her ready, to listen, when you sing (the heck with Jamie Cullem) just for them, even though there are 150 people in the joint without air conditioning on this hot cool mint julip night and all the young bloods are there, sweat pouring off their foreheads as they headed across the street just to hear you on their break; their white hankies are soaked from tearing it up "TWISTED" or "POOPDECK" - "ANTE-ROOM" or SKULL BUSTER" tunes with strange names that set the crowds going crazy...the set is over and they are coming for YOU: JOE, YOU, with that magic face and that haunting enigmatic and tender voice...YOU who are going to teach them what it is to be ALONE TOGETHER...wait, I have to listen myself...you have it guy, open those eyes and lure US all in.

I love that painting of your dad; it seems so familiar and he has such a fifties look almost of a French actor I admired who was in "BREATHLESS" but your dad is much more elegant. Don't you dare buy the book from Coda when you are ready...Cadence is the publisher - you let me know as I would like to autograph it even though Coda is celebrating their 50th anniversary; as of now it is on www. ebay. com and www. amazon. com going for hundreds of dollars and I have it for $28.00 plus $14.00 postage overseas...and I autograph; my site www. grangeladyhaigrutan. com is my Las Vegas office and they are not there at the present...so, if you go to amazon there are nine "healthy" reviews. But you need to live a bit as there are over 534 pages, plus photos, index and discography...but I am very pleased as it took 17 years. I love Barry Harris and I believe he lives in the Barroness's home in New Jersey where, before him, Coleman Hawkins and Monk lived. He is magic and I remember when he was in the hospital a few years ago I went to see him and brought him a straw boater hat with red, white and blue...he must never leave the face of this earth...we can't let him go...nor you either. When one man sits alone and sings the way you do I want to transport you back to then and give you a feel for what you make me feel when I hear you sing...you are hauntingly beautiful NOW.
