Originally from Beverly, MA, Joe started playing trumpet at the age of 10. In High school, Joe was selected to play in the Beverly High School Jazz Band that competed in jazz festivals put on by The International Association of Jazz Educators. From these festivals, Joe won many outstanding soloist awards including two given by Greg Hopkins and Herb Pomeroy. In Joe's senior year of high school, he won an outstanding soloist award from a jazz competition in New York City competing with over 20 jazz bands in the country. After High school, Joe decided to take his music further and study at The Berklee College of Music getting his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance in May 2008. Joe has performed at many different places including Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, MA with his Quintet/Sextet, The Boston Horns, and The Boston Horns Big Band. He has also performed at several venues in New York including The Fatcat, Smalls Jazz Club, and Cleopatra's Needle. He has also had the great opportunity to perform with James Montgomery, Barrence Whitfield, Mark Walker, and Oscar Stagnaro at The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival. He has also played with Brian Thompson, former trumpeter of Maynard Ferguson's big band. Joe has studied with such great musicians including Jim Rotondi, Brian Lynch, Jeremy Pelt, Garret Savluk, Tiger Okoshi, Jeff Stout, Lin Biviano, Ken Cervenka, Charlie Louis, and George Garzone.
