You don't have to believe in the ocean or love the ocean. Just jump right in and you'll get wet.
Joe Reilly's heart is an infinite ocean and each song that he writes is a resonant wave. We call him Spiritboy because when he aligns his hands, his heart, and his harmonies, he not only displays his personal emotional journey, he also plucks the heartstrings of hope to bring us beyond despair into healing action. Ever since he could shake a rattle or cry to his mother's heartbeat, music has been a part of his soul. David and Mary Jo Reilly planted seeds in young Joe with their talents in voice, bass, and guitar. He developed his craft of singing with the Treetown Intertribal drum group, playing with bands in Michigan and Chicago, and touring around the US/Turtle Island and beyond. He challenges and stretches minds as an educator in the environmental justice movement. His heart has been nurtured by Native American, Buddhist, and Catholic teachings. As a result, he can howl a chilling splash-in-the face blues about treachery and historical injustice and inspire you with upbeat ditties that echo in your mind long afterwards.
Put simply, Joe Reilly sings good songs, medicine for your mind and soul.
