God doesn't really leave us guessing about what we should do about the poor. Although we are to not support idle brothers and sisters -- rather, encourage responsibility:
1 Sam 2:8 ""He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap To make them sit with nobles, And inherit a seat of honor; For the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, And He set the world on them."
Psa 72:12 "For He will deliver the needy when he cries, The poor also, and him who has no helper."
Prov 19:17 "He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given."
Prov 21:13 "Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be heard."
Prov 22:9 "He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor."

Thank you and May God Bless You.
Matt. 25:34… Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
My deepest desire is that you can know and understand the great love
and acceptance God has for you. This is the most important time of
the year as we all celebrate what Jesus Christ did on the cross for
us. Please take a few moments to ponder and reflect with me what
happened The Day That Shook The World!
The greatest and most historical event of all of History was when
Jesus Christ was crucified on the Cross. On that day the lighting
flashed, the thunder roared, the earth quaked, the rocks split, the
vial in the Temple was torn from the top to the bottom and the tombs
were opened. As Christ was crucified a crown of thorns was pushed down
upon His head, His face was beaten with reeds, His beard was torn off
His face, He was spit upon and mocked, His back was ripped open as He
was beaten and whipped thirty nine times with whips of leather
embedded with sharp glass and spikes of metal. Then they took Him
outside the city to a place called Golgotha where the soldiers nailed
the great nails into His hands and feet and pierced His sided. As He
hung and bled there alone and naked between heaven and earth suffering
for you and me a great darkness that fell upon the planet for a period
of three hours.
As Jesus Christ was being crucified on each side of him, two criminals
were being crucified also. On the outside looking in, these other two
men appear exactly alike. They were both criminals who were sentenced
to die together at the same place, same day, same time. They were
equally near to Christ. Both of them saw and heard all that happened
those six hours Jesus hung on the cross. Both were lost in their sin,
both were dying, both needing forgiveness.
But these two men who were crucified on the outer crosses differed on
one main point: how they viewed Jesus Christ in the middle. They saw
him differently and therefore asked him for different things. One
wanted to escape, the other wanted forgiveness. Outside the city wall
three crosses stood beside the road that day. A cross of redemption, a
cross of rejection and a cross of repentance.
The one who wanted to escape thought noting of eternity but only of
himself. His last dying words were cursing the only One who could
save him. He unfortunately joined the crowds who rejected His love,
mercy and forgiveness and mocked Him. He was on a cross of rejection.
Like so many today just following popular opinion and rejecting God’s
only way of salvation.
Then there is the other guilty man being justly punished. He deserves
to die and he knows it. His case has been tried, the judgment
announced, the sentence carried out. The man is as close to death as
you can be, and still be alive. Now at the last moment he makes what
would seem to be an impossible request. He looks at Jesus in his last
breath of life and says, “Lord Remember me when you come into your
Kingdom…”
Somehow this man saw Jesus bleeding and naked, and yet he believed
that he would someday come into his kingdom. No man ever looked less
like a king than Jesus did that day, yet this man saw Him as he really
was. Perhaps he heard Jesus teach, heal the sick or raise the dead or
just saw His love and great compassion for those who drove the nails
through His hands and feet when He said, “Father forgive them for they
know not what they do…”
But when you read of what he confesses it is what we all confess to be
saved. First he said, “ We indeed are suffering justly, for we are
receiving what we deserve”. He recognized he was a sinner. Secondly he
said, “this man has done nothing wrong”. He had Faith in the person
that Jesus was on this Earth and that He was sinless. Thirdly he said,
“Lord, remember me when you come into Your Kingdom”. He had faith in
the power and mercy of Christ and His Kingdom!
He believed!
Jesus turned to him and said something that must have astounded the
angles! It must have shaken the minds of those who stood near by.
Jesus said, “Today you will be with me in Paradise”. That’s the mercy
of God. That is the mercy God has for you. This man in his last
dying breath uttered Lord save me. Jesus said, “Today!” That is
right. When you receive Him salvation is immediate for you by faith!
What cross represents your life? Rejection? To die in your sin and be
lost for all eternity? Or, Repentance? Die to your sin and say Lord
Remember me?
That is the question only you can answer. I trust you have made the
decision to follow the One who died for our Sin.
As we know three days later Jesus rose from the dead and changed world
history and separated time.
