BANDS BIO The Joe Scott Project, a Hamilton, New Jersey based band, began in 2008 as a new vehicle for songwriter/guitarist Joe Scott to write, arrange and play original rock music. Joe Scott recruited his lifelong friends Brian Fraipont, the Cat and Hank Sterns to help him with his new venture. Each band member had worked together in the band Antitrust, who placed fourth for The Top Hard Rock Act of 2007 at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Although each member of the band has achieved success in individual endeavors, they wanted to come together again to create an original band that plays original music.
The Joe Scott Project is currently playing gigs throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Their debut CD was released in 2009 and was recorded at Long Swamp Studios, which is owned by Joe Scott.
Joe Scott-lead guitar/songwriter/vocals/founder:
Joes love of music started at an early age when his mom would play classical music on the piano. He started playing guitar at ten years old, eventually learning to play most instruments, but the guitar is his passion. He has been influenced musically by Beethoven to Black Sabbath. He had played in many local bands before achieving success with the bands Master Fury and Antitrust. Joe was the recipient of The Top Guitarist award in Oklahoma City, OK in 1990.
Hank Sterns-rhythm guitar:
Hank started playing guitar when he was ten years old. He was influenced by Tony Iommi, Angus Young and Jeff Beck. He picked up the bass at fifteen because of musicians such as Geezer Butler and Steve Harris. Hank had played in local bands Lash Out, Evil Ruins and Blackout before joining Antitrust. Some bands that have influenced Hank are Anthrax, Infectious Grooves and King Diamond.
The Cat-bass:
Cat started playing the guitar at nine but continued to learn many other instruments, ultimately deciding on the bass. Cat is proficient playing classical, jazz, funk and rock. His diverse musical background has been inspired by artists such as David Gilmore and Bootsie Collins. Cat has played and toured with Machine Dog, Nite Lite, Allure and Antitrust. While in Allure, Cat played at the 20th Reunion of Woodstock. Cat also has done many recording projects with Philly International.
Brian Fraipont-drums:
Brian started playing drums at nine years old because his older brother gave up playing and the drum kit was available and not being used. Brian has been musically influenced by artists such as Bill Ward and John Bonham, and continues to be inspired by musicians old and new. Brian had played in various local bands before joining the bands Master Fury and Antitrust. From there Brian joined Slaughterhouse, who he toured with after getting signed with Warner Brothers who also released their CD‘s.
The Joe Scott Project is currently playing gigs throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania and they are looking forward to playing many more in the future.
