Brighton based photographer Joe Shepherd's background is as pastoral as his name. Brought up on a smallholding in Somerset Joe was 'home schooled' by his artist mother until the age of six.
"...this consisted of me playing in the garden.." says Joe of those early years."I didnt get my first camera until I was 14 and it satisfied my desire to make art as I was no good at painting or drawing."
The future of his photography took shape and crystallized with his first 'music business' project creating images for his girlfriends album.
"...I've always had a great affinity with musical expression and it made sense to combine my two greatest passions..."
Joe is now using his understanding and respect of music and musicians to photograph bands and solo performers in his unique and iconic style.
"Things have kept on opening up since I made my first steps on this road and I'm very excited about all of my upcoming projects for both high profile and unsigned artists, helping and collaborating with them to reveal, promote and represent their identities".
With each new shoot it looks certain that soon young Mr. Shepherd will have the great and the good of the music industry flocking to him.
Joe's current base of operations is Bangkok, Thailand.
His long-term return to Britain is certain if not immanent, however he keeps himself open to all possibilities - creative and geographic!
