JOE STEEL was formed in New York City a few decades ago and rocked club after club on an almost steady basis. Despite critical acclaim and a loyal following, the record companies ignored the obvious; JOE STEEL should be signed and touring!
After a 10+ year run, JOE STEEL decided to take a break from the world of hard rock mayhem and pursue other musical directions.
In 2006, founding JS guitarist/vocalist Spyder Williams relocated from the east coast to LA. A chance phone conversation in December 2007 with founding JS bassist/vocalist Doc Phillips, just to say "what's up?" led to what can only be described as a total throwback to what was and still is the essence of hard rock. Doc headed out to LA in February 2008 for a visit. After 10 minutes jamming in the studio, the magic was back!! Within a week, Doc also relocated to LA to pick up where things were left off. Several drummers were auditioned, but none could keep up with the manic energy of these seasoned veterans of the rock wars.
Enter, Mike Zwaaf! A cool dude with just the right "tude!" Not only can he hit hard, he sings too!!! Just what JOE STEEL was looking for to complete the harmonic part of the equation! With all of the musical puzzle pieces in place, now JOE STEEL is ready to march forward and claim our share of the hard rock landscape!
We are currently performing around the LA area and soon will take our brand of "Groove Metal" out to the masses beyond this area!
Our first CD is called ROCK HARD OR DIE, which will be available in the late spring 2009.
So, after an extended hiatus, JOE STEEL IS BACK!!! Our music will grab you by the cajones and make you want to do something with them!
Though a little grey in the temples and a few years older, JOE STEEL rises anew with hard and heavy riffs, monster drumming, powerful vocals....everything you need for a major dose of heavy metal mayhem and a rocking good time.
