Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen. ”
Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Joe Topping has been played on the It's A Frog's Life Acoustic Podcast Show 71 - Pour me a drink - with all of the songs being linked to an alcohol theme. And by cutting down on the talking I've managed to squeeze eleven songs into the 60 minute show.
There are tipsy tunes from Edwina Hayes, Carleko, Gerry McNiece, Joe Topping, Terry Coyne, Anthony John Clarke, Kaya, Jazmine Ava, His Worship and The Pig, Invocal, Ten Gallon Hat & The Big Salute, and a bedding track from Matt Steven's brand new album. Perfect for New Year's Eve!
Thank you all for listening and supporting the show during 2008.
Happy New Year!
Graham..

Hi Joe, We wish you a good and very happy 2009! It was very nice to see you at the festival and had there the shortest chat we ever have had before. Hopefully next time there's time for a longer talk. Love, Erik and Joke

Hi Joe, Thanks for the friend request. It's great to find you on MySpace, and yes, of course I remember you from the folk club. It's still going strong, by the way. It's nice hearing your brilliant music again too. Best wishes, Ian.
