So this is my space. And for as long as I am able, I'm going to keep it that way... ******************************************************************** I still manage this account-- and rather than put the official bio here, I'm gonna let you look at it by visiting my website: www.joetruman.com -- There you can read the fancy stuff if you're interested. I'm the type of person who would prefer to keep it real, or leave it alone. So I try to write songs about things that mean something to me. If you know any thing about Pisces, I'm straight down the middle of that sign, and you'll know me fairly well. I'm the guy who sometimes gets overwhelmed at a big party and slips quietly out the back door unnoticed, if things get too loud and crazy, and I'm feeling little connection... same goes for the music biz. Sometimes I love the big, crazy parties and all the wild noise. But it's tough to both artistically create and spend a ton of time buzzing around in social networking mode, gathering names and numbers and contacts. I hope many folks eventually get to hear and enjoy my music. But personally, I'm not interested so much in numbers of friends, as quality of friends. That means that I still search for folks that interest me, and sometimes someone finds me that I'm thrilled to meet. I'm ok with being a work in progress, although I'm often impatient at my progress. And though I have a product, I am not a product. I'm proud of an album that I like, that has a mellow, listenable sound, and doesn't beat folks over the head with over-production. I'm happy to have worked with John Mock, co-producer of the album, who cared as much as I did, about the songs I've written. I'm thrilled to have had some successes in songwriting contests like Kerrville New Folk contest as a finalist. And I'm moved that some of the folks whose opinions I value, think my work is worth investing in and listening to. ******************************************************************* If you like what you hear, become a friend-- I would welcome your friendship here in my space. I check in as regularly as I can, and respond personally as often as I have time. But remember not to be offended when I slip out the back door of my space to get a breath of fresh air before returning again to catch up in the big party...
So great to see you last night, my friend. I can't thank you enough for catching the show. I hope you have a wonderful week. Let's get some coffee soon... I'd love to catch up.
Hi Joe! Long time since we last said hello to each other. Thought I'd send you some views of Oregon. This is Mt. Jefferson...sure is pretty. Hope all is well with you and your music.
Joe, of course you can use the comments as a quote! Any time my friend!
You know, I can't imagine being in a city like Nashville working with music. As you said there are so many of musicians out there doing their music thing that it becomes hard not to get lost in the crowd. Unfortunately being in a smaller city limits your opportunities to be heard, so I guess its a catch 22.
But find comfort in knowing that the true music appreciators will pick out the outstanding artists through the sea of crowd pleasers.
I too prefer quality over quantity, any day! Myspace has been a great networking tool, helping me to find other artists, and fans who show real support. Its great to build an encouraging music community here.
As always, you did a stellar job and it was such a pleasure to play music with you last Wednesday evening! We feel honored each time you accept our invite and can't wait to play with you again. Sabrina was incredible, too. Thanks again for bringing her along!
Take good care and we will be in touch for a summer date.
Hi Joe! How is your week so far? We had beautiful weather here and just as I thought, it brought on a lot of creativity!
I just posted a new track and synced it up with the new Terminator Salvation movie trailer. If you get a chance come check it out :) Let me know what you think.
oh my goodness... it was such a pain in the butt driving this past weekend cause my heater wasn't working, so the windows got foggy... urg. oh well. mom drove me the rest of the way home and it took app. 4.5 hrs. !!! but all good! how r things with you?
Hi Joe, I really enjoyed the show at Maple Street tonight and I was so thrilled to get to meet you. I commented to you that I love your writing style and that it is a lot like Skip Ewing. I especially enjoyed your new song and am so glad you played it for the first time out in public for us tonight. You are awesome! I hope to get to hear you again soon. God bless you. Janie
Hi Joe! Thank you for the positive feedback! I have been listening to your tunes over the last few days and I am amazed at what I have heard!
There are many acoustic/folk songwriters out there and a large number of them are very very good. Your music however stands above that group, there is much creativity flowing in your songs! You have a unique quality in your writing that sets you apart. I'm not sure if its a jazz influence I hear? In any case the melodies and progressions in your tunes are truly music to my ears!
Thank you for the new friendship and musical comradery!
Thanks for the nice message. Yes, we were 2008 Kerrville finalists, and had a great time. There's a blog about our experience on our page if you want to check it out. Nice to hear from you,
