I was born in Oak Cliff, Texas in October, 1962. I got my first guitar when I was about 5 (pictured below with my Granny Fletcher). By the time I was 9 years old my family was on the road traveling full time. I sang my first song on stage when I was 10, and that experience was so cool I never looked back. I didn’t really start my career of playing the guitar until I was 12, and I taught myself by listening to my Dad's music. What an experience!
When I was 14 I recorded a couple of singles, "Soon And Very Soon" and "Walkin' Hand In Hand". Shortly after that I started getting guys together to form the Free Spirit Band. In 1979 the band cut our one and only LP titled "Free Spirit Band". The band broke up shortly after that and I married the love of my life, Lori. We got married in '81 and moved to sunny California. We have 3 wonderful kids. Daniel is our oldest at 24, Carey is next at 18, and then Hannah at 11. What a blessing these 4 people have been in my life.
I have continued my music career by being active in my local Church. After 8 years of being praise and worship leader, I stepped down from that position and am now just playing my guitar and singing upon request. The experience of leading people was an awesome time in my life.
In 2000 I got a Roland 880ex recorder and started making better demos of the songs I have written.
It did seem like old times playing together again. We'll have to find a way to do that some more down the road. Hey, I came across a gal, Amanda Marshall, and she has some songs that are your style. Maybe she would be someone to "pitch" to. Check her out at AmandaMarshall. com
