Johanna’s extraordinary music combines the emotional depth of Sarah McLachlan, the intimate delivery of Eva Cassidy, the soulful melodiousness of Joss Stone, the indie edge of KT Tunstall, and the improvisational unpredictability of Ella Fitzgerald.
Johanna’s songs of loving, longing, and learning are at the same time personal and universal. Johanna’s first CD, Stolen Grace, showcases her music in acoustic folk and world-beat styles. Her newest CD, If I Could Fly, expands her stylistic palate to include rock, soul, gospel, and a cappella.
Johanna wrote her first song when she was nine years old. By the time she was 20 she had released her first album of original music; studied with singer/songwriters Chris Williamson and Tret Fure, jazz singer Rhiannon, and rhythm-master Keith Terry; performed in musical theatre, rock and world-beat bands, gospel and women’s community choirs, improvisational acting and singing troupes, short and feature-length films, and countless festivals, rallies, clubs, coffee houses, colleges, and universities.
Johanna is available to perform as a solo artist, or with a second musician or full band. She is especially popular at festivals, wineries, resort restaurants, and art houses.
