Hi there my name’s John, I’m 22 and I’m a singer/songwriter/producer from Manchester! Ok now that’s out of the way I’ll try and tell you a bit about myself without it sounding so bland….
Music has been the most important thing in the world to me for almost 15 years now. When I first started recording and writing I was 7 years old, my parents got me a tape player with a built in microphone so I used to sing into it. I very much doubt any of it sounded good, probably more like a screaming 7 year old but the dream was there.
I was then made to join a choir, which was like the most UN cool thing my parents could have possibly done to me at that age but it taught me how to sing which I am now very grateful for. A few years later I began to learn guitar and piano and went to music school, being forced to only listen, play, eat and sleep classical music, this really did my nut in as all I wanted to do was write my own music.
After 2 years I left to go to a normal school, music school had taught me so much but being a classical composer or concert pianist wasn’t my aim and didn’t feel I was on the right path. It wasn't long later when I had turned 15 and I auditioned for a music/TV program, an A&R director from Warner Bros (Steve Allen) was on the panel. I played him a song I wrote and he loved it and not long later I signed a development deal with him. After that I was given money! Which was awesome! It enabled the band I was the singer and wrote the songs for (Ephesus) to get all the equipment we needed.
In the summer of 2003 I left school with all my dreams ahead of me it seemed, but it wasn’t meant to be. There was a big takeover at Warner music and I was left without the record deal that was promised to me. Still I didn’t let it get me down too much, the band and I decided to gig a whole lot more and it wasn’t long till we were noticed again by the likes of people like the legend that is Tony Wilson. Once again things just didn’t seem to go our way though. After a few years of countless band member changes and hassle I decided to call it a day, I began playing in a duo (Stereo Horizon) with my sister (Alona Ainsworth) on drums.
Things were going really well and our new good friend Liam Walsh said we need to record and release a single so he can get us on the radio. We then went into Blueprint studios, where the likes of Elbow, Stephen Fretwell, Ting Tings and soon to be famous Karima Francis have recorded, and did 4 songs. Only two of the songs got used though and we got told they weren’t suitable for radio, so after 6 years and being a fraction away from being signed twice I was back where I started.
In September 2008 Stereo Horizon took a break, without the future ahead of us being at all certain, and I began playing on my own acoustically. With the laptop Liam so generously gave me I produced/recorded an E.P entitled 7 short stories. Now I’m in the process of recording demos for the single I will hopefully be bringing out next year with some help from the great people down at askmePR and Moolah Rouge studios. I can't wait to hear it when its finished as the producers recording me have worked with some of my favourite bands. Till then there are these songs, which I hope you enjoy :)
So yeah! If you’ve just stumbled across me and like what you hear please don’t hesitate to tell me what you think, and if I can count on your support that would be amazing. and if you really really wanna help you could always copy the code below the banner to put it on your page;;;;DDDD
