JOHN BARROWMAN’S NEW ALBUM ‘MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC’
RELEASED NOVEMBER 24TH ON EPIC RECORDS
John Barrowman, much loved actor, singer, TV and West End star releases his long awaited new album Music Music Music on November 24th – out on Epic Records- produced by Simon Franglen (Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand) and Graham Stack (Kylie, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart).
Music Music Music reveals the quality of John’s rich voice across a hand-picked selection of songs, some instantly familiar, others slightly less so. Lead-off single- What About Us- the instantly catchy pop gem written by Gary Barlow will be released on November 17th.
"There are three distinct styles on this record," John explains. "Musical theatre, country and western, and straightforward pop. I wanted to sing songs I've always loved, songs like Bette Midler's From A Distance, Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now and Dusty Springfield’s You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, alongside things like Keith Urban's fantastic You'll Think Of Me” Also present on the new album are beautiful covers of Andy Williams’ Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and the towering I Know Him So Well- first made famous by Elaine Page and Barbara Dickson back in 1985, and here given one of John's by now trademark mischievous twists.

3. Can’t Take My Eyes Off You

Given the success of his first album, Another Side (the collection of some of John's favourite songs, quickly amassed sales of over 100,000 copies in the first few months of its release, and is now approaching platinum status in the UK alone)- John has high hopes for this successor.
“Another Side did better than I ever expected," he says, "so who knows, maybe this one will do even better…" It is, of course, entirely likely that it will, if only because, over the past few years now, John Barrowman has had something of a Midas touch: everything he has been associated with has turned to gold. After two hugely successful decades as a leading man in some of the West End's and Broadway's finest musicals, John returned to British TV screens in Russell T. Davies's revival of Doctor Who and became, almost instantly, a national treasure. He then took his character, Captain Jack Harkness, into a spin-off series, Torchwood, which became equally successful. And once he'd established himself as a TV idol, he promptly reinvented himself as a Saturday night talent show judge as well, alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber. Then came his first solo album and, at the turn of this year, his autobiography, Anything Goes.
You'd think that this list of achievements would be sufficient enough for him to kick back on a plump chaise longue and bask in his success, but John has barely begun. He recently fronted How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? on Canadian television, and is currently fielding offers to do likewise in Australia.
And early next year comes the fruition of yet another dream for Britain's best loved entertainer: his own Saturday night variety TV show.
Early Life
John Scot Barrowman was born in Mount Vernon, Glasgow, where he lived for the first eight years of his life. His mother worked in a record shop and his father worked for the Caterpillar heavy machinery company in nearby Uddingston. In 1976 the family was relocated to the United States by the company for which his father was working.
He spent the next few years of his life in Joliet, Illinois, where his father was a manager at the Caterpillar tractor factory. Barrowman graduated from Joliet West High School in 1985. While still in high school, he won parts in several musical productions even as a freshman. Between 1983 and 1985 he performed in productions of Hello, Dolly!, Oliver!, Camelot, Li'l Abner and Anything Goes. He also spent a summer working for an Illinois power company, a job arranged by his father to give him experience of manual labour. He attended university in San Diego, and returned to the United Kingdom in 1990.
Acting career
His professional debut was in the 1989 London West End production of Cole Porter's Anything Goes, playing Billy Crocker, a role that he reprised in Trevor Nunn's 2003 West End revival. He has also appeared in the West End productions of Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, Matador, Hair, Grease!, Sunset Boulevard, Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera.
He was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 1998 for originating the role of Cal Chandler in The Fix, a performance he repeated in Cameron Mackintosh's 1998 gala concert Hey, Mr Producer!. He has played the role of Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard in the West End and, briefly, on Broadway. His only other Broadway credit is the Stephen Sondheim revue Putting It Together (1999–2000). In 2002, he appeared in the central role of Bobby in Sondheim's Company in the Kennedy Center's Stephen Sondheim Celebration.
He is best known in the UK for his appearances in the Doctor Who TV series and its spinoff Torchwood. In the United States these programs have been very popular on BBC America, but with its limited cable distribution his most familiar starring roles may be in several short-lived prime-time soap operas such as Titans with Yasmine Bleeth in 2000 and Central Park West, as well as the low-budget film Shark Attack 3: Megalodon.
Barrowman has also appeared in a Doctor Who special of the BBC's The Weakest Link. He appeared in an episode of the third series of the BBC series Hotel Babylon.

John,
Hello. Oh my. Thank you for adding me. I hope it is you that reads this. I didn't know a lot about you until I was on amazon.co.uk looking at Michael Ball's music. You were suggested. I sampled your music, was drawn by it and the dvd promo, then I was deeply interested. Your cd, "Music..." was what I picked up and I pre-ordered the concert dvd. By the way, you're a stunning young artist! You're friends with Barry Manilow (I heard you on Proms) and that really makes me happy. You cover him reverently. All the cuts are passionate, sincere, and your voice is energetically captivating. Please stay in touch if possible. It's a pleasure to have your cd and more to come in my life.
Be well. Hope you like my page.
Love,
Christopher
P.S. I'm sure Judy Collins respects and admires your emotional, beautiful take on "Both Sides Now".
