I am basically a rock keyboard player that got into synthesizers (almost back when they were first invented....gee that makes me sound old. lol) when I got my first Moog Modular Model 12 Synthesizer around 1973.
I grew up first learning to play the accordion in 4th grade later learning organ and piano in junior high. I started playing with my first Farfisa Combo Compact DeLuxe in bands when I was in junior high and high school in the late 1960's and early 1970’s.
I got my first Hammond Organ at age 16 later adding an RMI Electra Piano and Harpsichord, Moog Modular Synthesizer 12, Minimoog, Mellotron 400, Hohner Clavinet D6 and Fender Rhodes electric Piano playing clubs in the Boston/New England area.
Performed original music in the progressive rock band "Whisper" based in New Haven, CT in the mid 1970's
I currently play, compose and record using Apple Power Mac computers, MOTU Digital Performer software and many of the same, now "vintage" synthesizers and keyboards. These include a Minimoog, Moog Source, Moog Taurus II pedals and Moog Percussion controller, Synthesizers.com analog modular synthesizer, Mellotron Mark V dual keyboard, Hammond C3 and Farfisa Compact Duo organs with Leslie speakers, RMI Electra Pianos and Rock-Si-Chord, Hohner Clavinet/Pianet Duo, Eminent Solina String Ensemble, Oberheim OB-8, Roland Jupiter 6 and Juno-106 analog polysynths, Rhodes VK-1000, Synclavier Digital Music System, Kurzweil PC2x. Also have a full complement of hardware digital synths and samplers from Yamaha, Roland, E-mu/Ensoniq, Korg, Akai and others.
Built and was the owner one of the first large scale MIDI synthesizer studios in Malibu, CA after the invention of the MIDI interface in the 1980's.
Created and taught two courses at UCLA, "Synthesis and Sound Design" in addition to "A Complete Guide to Digital Sampling" when hardware digital samplers were first introduced in the 1980's.
I've worked on many different music projects as both player, and programmer from rock, pop, R & B to programming and composing for film, TV and commercials. Currently producing various artists as well as my own projects in my studio.
I've also been involved in sound design for various sample libraries including E-Mu Systems, Inc., ProSonus, InVision.
I was one of the primary sound design programmers of the original Factory Programs for the Memorymoog Synthesizer when I worked at Moog Music, Inc. as Northeast Regional Manager in the early 1980's. I've also worked as the US Sales Manager for the first digital sampler, the Fairlight CMI (Computer Musical Instrument) and as Emulator III product specialist at E-mu Systems, Inc. in the late 1980's.
