Band MembersKARRI DELL HAYS on Fiddle, Clawhammer Banjo and Vocals - JACK WALZER on Guitar and Vocals - MARK "TENNESSEE" VIAR on Upright Doghaus Bass. DAMIEN ROOMETS on Dobro. REX FLINNER on Mandolin ROD RILEY on Dobro and Lead Guitar joins us occasionally when he's not in Nashville playing it up in the studio or out on tour with someone more famous than us!
InfluencesThe Old Timey thang in every direction and scratchier the better. It is always interesting to watch what happens when people from different musical backgrounds get together. John Boy’s Mule is an ever evolving blend of influences that seem to capture a spot somewhere in between Old Time, Bluegrass and Folk Rock. We’re not sure we would claim to pigeon hole a specific genre, to do so wouldn’t do the genre justice for sure. But if we could have a small slice of a space somewhere in between we suppose that would suffice. All of us in the Mule love music – all kinds. We all love to play acoustic instruments and we love spending time together. The most rewarding part of playing is finding the ‘groove’ and when you’re in the ‘groove’, so is your audience. That’s why we play. There is so much good music out there to play, it’s a joy when we can all interpret it to create that Muley sound in the end.
Sounds Like FUN

   About John Boys Mule
After a few years of Rockygrass campground jamming and carousing , JBM started in Park City, Utah in 2005. Since then the band has evolved spreading it's muley sound throughout the west. We like the "Olde Time", we like the "New Time". Musical influences are endless with this band. Check out our most recent tunes above with our friend Rod Riley who blessed us with his musical presence over the last year. After Rod went back to Nashville, Damien Rommets has been filling in very nicely on the dobro and can sing the shizzy. Our newest band member is Rex Flinner, the older brother of Matt, who also plays the crap out of a bunch of instruments.

Hey. What's up? It's raining in Wichita tonight. Nothing like tornado warning sirens (2 nights ago) to give you bone rattling shivers. Seriously. Stay in touch.
Seriously,

I love the soaring vocals with the plaintive steel guitar and that undeniable timeliness of told-time banjo.
Bravo!
