John Cairns is a singer/songwriter playing acoustic guitar. He was in a band but won The Lowden Guitar competition in 2000 and after getting the chance to play with the legendary Davey Graham at The Ards Guitar Festival, the band splitting and him heading to Liverpool to get a music degree, the solo career was born.
After playing the Liverpool scene for three years, in clubs such as The Cavern and The Zanzibar, he has returned to his homeland to expose the people to a dose of contemporary lyrical majesty over a feather bed of intimate and danceable soundscapes on which his words can lay their bruised but haloed heads.
Peace x
Hey there. You've probably chosen the only time we're not in Belfast! Cal is in France, Im in London ish and Pete is away to Australia. The Whiskey Princes are done and dusted. Sorry we'll miss you before you go. Have a great time and stay in touch. Love Tan and the Pesky Princes. xxx
It comes up in one of the later Sandman books. I did a little digging on Wikipedia, which is a library of sorts, I guess. The traditional definition is of an arrangement of stones (like a mini Stonehenges) used to mark grave sites, overgrown paths, special spots and the like.
I bought myself a wee usb interface (tascam u144 i think) it came with cubase LE which is pretty cool... it does the job for demo tracks for me to listen to. I may go to studio soon for a larf as a guy I know is getting 'phasma studios' off the ground.
Hah! I can't believe you caught the lighter! I was running out of ideas for a sound, so used that. Good ear mate! For beats, I use Reason 4.0 I got it off of bittorrent (shhh, dont tell anyone). I was using Ableton Live 7 but it discovered it's ilconcieved past and self-destructed. I'm using Sony Acid Pro with Reason now. Stones to Cross doesn't have any beats though, I just recorded finger-snaps and claps for percussion.
Thanks for the kind words man. It really means a lot!
This gig is to raise money for the Theatre Knights' performance of Reservoir Cats, an all-female version of Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs which will be performed in Belfast's The Black Box from 13th-16th May. The play will in turn be donating profits to the Belfast Rape Crisis Centre which has been in danger of closure since the Government withdrew funding.
There are many good reasons for drinking, One has just entered my head. If a man doesn't drink when he's living, How in the hell can he drink when he's dead?

“Pete Murray is living in Belfast, Northern Ireland, (not Australia). He plays guitar... He likes to surf... And he never speaks about himself in the third person...”
For chilled-out sounds, songs about surfing and a chance to grab a coffee and relax, be there on Tuesday night!
I have been suggesting that same basic logic to certain people that those are the formative years of imprinting. Not everything is innate. However, I feel that it's met with either denial or indifference. Not sure which is worse.
