John Cairns is a singer/songwriter playing acoustic guitar. He was in a band but won The Lowden Guitar competition in 2000 and after getting the chance to play with the legendary Davey Graham at The Ards Guitar Festival, the band splitting and him heading to Liverpool to get a music degree, the solo career was born.
After playing the Liverpool scene for three years, in clubs such as The Cavern and The Zanzibar, he has returned to his homeland to expose the people to a dose of contemporary lyrical majesty over a feather bed of intimate and danceable soundscapes on which his words can lay their bruised but haloed heads.
Peace x

I can never really go back. The house burned to the ground in 1995. Fitting, since it was a veritable house of horrors anyway; hence the vast amounts of time spent roaming the countryside.
My dear friend Tra has a house on the other side of that same town. Its back yard is a wide expanse of untouched land, and the porch is where I've found the only true, visceral peace (I know that's an unlikely descriptor, but if you could feel it you'd agree) I've known these last few years. I sometimes ache to be there at 2 am with a snifter, the silent company of someone who knows all my secrets, the stars and the purest air I've ever breathed. It's been more than a year.
