Born into a family of great musical tradition, John Carter Cash has finally emerged from the shadows of his late great 'Man in Black' father, Johnny Cash, with this his debut album. But Bitter Harvest is far from being John Carter's first appearance on the country music scene. He had been a member of his father's Johnny Cash Road Band for many years, touring with the old man and his mother June Carter Cash while growing up. This in turn led to his name appearing throughout the Johnny Cash back catalogue - he produced many of his parents' singles - and winning a clutch of Grammys for his production efforts. Somewhere in amongst all this, John Carter found time to lay down the tracks that have now come to form this 12 track offering.

About me:

Son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash Half-brother of Carlene Carter and Rosey Nix Adams. Half-brother of Rosanne Cash, Tara Cash, Kathy Cash and Cindy Cash. Grandson of Mother Maybelle Carter. Two children: Anna Maybelle and Joseph. Nephew of Anita Carter and Helen Carter. John Carter Cash (born 3 March 1970) is an American Country music-singer, songwriter and producer. He is the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash. He was born into a family of great musical tradition. He has five surviving half-sisters: Rosanne Cash, Carlene Carter, Kathy Cash, Cindy Cash, and Tara Cash; a sixth half-sister Rosie Nix Adams died in 2003. Three of his half-sisters, Rosanne, Carlene, and Rosie, all continued into the family business. Starting in his early childhood he travelled with his parents on concert tours, playing the guitar and singing. At age 16 he founded his first rock 'n' roll band. He started writing songs when he was nine years old. His band had their first big concert during the Farm Aid-Concert of Willie Nelson. In the 1990s he supported his father on his tours as a rhythm guitarist. When Johnny stopped touring in 1997, John Carter focused on his own career, mainly on producing music. He is credited as 'associate producer' on of Johnny Cash's "American Recordings" albums III, IV and V, working beside Rick Rubin, who was producer. Johnny wrote in the liner notes of his final album, "My Mother's Hymn Book" that they "get along beautiful" and "are like soulmates." He co-produced his mother's "Press On" and produced Wildwood Flower, both winning a Grammy Award. His 2005 production The Unbroken Circle: the musical heritage of the Carter Family was nominated for three Grammys. He has been producer on five "Grammy" winning projects. In 2005, he co-produced Marty Stuart's highly acclaimed CD "Badlands". He produced Billy Joe Shaver for his 2007 release, Everybody's Brother, which was nominated for a Grammy Award the same year. He has produced material for George Jones, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kris Kristofferson, The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Earl and Randy Scruggs, Rosanne Cash, John Cowan, Rodney Crowell, Norman and Nancy Blake, Fanny Grace, Wylie and the Wild West, Jack Clift, The Early Evening, Tony Rice, and John Prine among many others. He is also the author of his mother's biography "Anchored in Love" and the companion music CD titled the same. Today he lives in Hendersonville, Tennessee with his second wife Laura Cash, their children, Anna Maybelle and Jack Ezra, and his son Joseph John, from his first marriage. He continues working as a musician and producer. His style is widely regarded as Alternative country, but his production work crosses many genres. His only solo album so far, "Bitter Harvest" was released in 2003. He also executive-produced the 2005 movie Walk the Line about his father's life, and had an uncredited cameo in the film as Bob Neal.
