John Crawford's successful music career has spanned genres and reached music fans around the world. As a founding member, songwriter, and bassist of the Los Angeles based pop-rock band, Berlin, Crawford achieved international success and top-twenty chart status. With hits such as "The Metro", "No More Words" and "You Don't Know", Berlin toured the world and became a favorite of the MTV generation. The band released three successful albums: Pleasure Victim in 1982, Love Life in 1984 and Count Three and Pray in 1986. Berlin disbanded in 1987.
In 1988, Crawford teamed up with guitarist, Mark Christian, and former Berlin drummer, Rob Brill, to form the heavy, but hard-to-define band, The Big F. As the lead singer of this hard-rock trio, Crawford was unrecognizable from his earlier Berlin incarnation. Preceding the hard-rock and grunge wave that swept the music industry in the early nineties, The Big F were ahead of their time and achieved critical acclaim for their raw, inventive and unapologetic sound. The band released two albums that made their mark with hard-rock fans: The Big F in 1989 and Is in 1991. The Big F disbanded in 1994.
In 1994, Crawford left the music business completely, focusing on starting his own successful business and raising a family. In July 2003, VH1 came calling and asked Crawford to participate in the taping of the network's premiere episode of Bands Reunited. After some persuasion Crawford finally agreed, much to the delight of his fans worldwide when the episode aired in January 2004.
Since the Berlin reunion, Crawford has returned to songwriting and recording and released his first solo CD, Surrender, in August 2005. Working independently has enabled Crawford to retain complete artistic control, which allows his fans to hear his music the way he intended it to sound. The positive response to his new songs has been extraordinary, and the prolific songwriter has recently released his second solo album, 8 Days.
