A long time ago... back in 1975, I released my first album on Chrysalis records.. 'A Friend of Mine is going Blind' rapidly followed in 1976 by 'Read On' also on Chrysalis.
From then on things went a bit quiet.... I still wrote. did well in a couple on International Fesivals in Poland and Turkey, had a few songs covered by other artists (including Cliff Richard)... even won 'BASCA composer of the year' in 1986 at the Cavan song festival.
But it is the internet which has allowed me to dip my toes in the water again - I am amazed at the number of visits I am getting on the website from both 'old faithfulls' from the early days and a few friends in the making.
And now, 'Now ...Where were we?' ties up a few loose ends with songs I had always wanted to put on the earlier albums... and 'Rough Cuts' is, as it says, a collection of songs which, although basic, I hope are worthy of being heard.
I am still writing, still popping into the studio from time to time, and still looking forward to the future with enormous optimism.
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!
HI , JOHN THANK YOU FOR THE ADD,I HAVE BEEN A GREAT FUN OF YOU BUT UNFORTUNATTLY IT PASSED A LONG TIME WITHOUT LISTENING TO YOUR MUSIC. ITS A WONDERFUL NIGHT , AND IT WAS A WONDERFULL MOMENT FOR ME TO HEAR YOUR MUSIC AGAIN. SO I DECIDED TO SEARCH FOR YOU , AND I FOUND YOUR PAGE.LOL :))
It's an honor to be added. I heard "A Friend of Mine" on a late night Philly radio station in the mid-70s and hunted it down until a few years ago. Beautiful!
Thanks John, Puts a smile on my face everytime I open my page! Oh, and thanks for the "young man" comment too, since I am not that much younger than you! LOL! That song takes us all back to simpler times with beautiful words! Very special tune! Also, thanks for the back story about the Salvation Army bands playing in town squares on typical sunday UK family outings!!
You have the best music ever. I will continue tell tell other guitarists of your songs that have made food for thought, for a life time of listening. Thanks man. dG
Wont you sing Tommy Davidson of things that you have seen....I love that song and I used to sing it when I lived in Scotland. Id love to sing it soon,in fact right now ! Have a good one !
Hi John, how the devil are you? Isnt it funny that one day you say to yourself 'I must drop John a line' and then 6 months later you remember. Life is all too fast paced at present. Im much prefer revolving at around 33 rpm but life seems to dictate a different speed. All are well and the artist is as busy as ever, planning some new exhibitions. How are things with you?
How wonderful to find you after so many years. I have so many fond memories of the 70's with your music being a beautiful part of it. I so glad to know you've decided to keep at it. Cheers.
John, how the devil are you? Im just back from china, what a part of the world it is, if you want to be scared and amazed all at once, hope you are keeping well these days.
