Lemon Jefferson, Willie McTell, Son House, Bukka White, Big Bill Broonzy Lowel George, Ry Cooder, Paul Geremia, Pat Donohue, Cormac McCarthy, Harvey Reid, Steve Goodman, John Prine and the list goes on.
John Derado has been playing music for nearly 3 decades. He is equally comfortable in blues and folk genres, with powerful vocals and fingerstyle guitar and slide. He also performs with Ronn Barany as a folk rock duo. John opened Front Porch Music in 1991 with good friends Paul and Jane Schreiner. After three years, with 'The Porch' firmly established, he decided to concentrate his efforts on playing music again. His music combines his influences while making it uniquely his own. His blues are rooted deep in the early days of Lemon Jefferson, Tampa Red, Davis, Johnson, White and others. The folksier side draws from personal heroes Steve Goodman and John Prine as well as lesser known artist like Cormac McCarthy and Harvey Reid. Sought out for both slide work and vocals he has opened for numerous bands including Pinetop Perkins, Lonnie Baker Brooks, Leon Redbone, Corky Siegel and Little Feat. John says, "Best thing that happened at a performance occurred while coming off stage. I was called upon to open a star studded party/tribute to Pinetop Perkins on his 88th birthday. As I exited the stage, David Honeyboy Edwards approached me and said, 'Boy, you got it!' VALIDATION, VALIDATION AT LAST." Whether playing in large outdoor festivals or the intimacy of a house concert, he is able to pull the audience in for an experience they won't soon forget. John appears regularly in the tri state area either solo or with one of the many duos he is involved in. The schedule changes often so check back for last minute updates.

Hey you! :) Just thought I'd say HELLO. Hope all is well. I'm SO tempted to drive up to the Woodfire and hear you play tomorrow night (although I'll probably be curled up watching a movie in a quiet house!). Phil and I have a weekend of no kiddos, mom has them tonight and dad has them tomorrow, thank goodness for grandparents :)
Email some of the covers you play so Brandon can see if he knows many of them. Thanks, can't wait!!! Looking fwd to catching up. Thanks for making this happen!
Anyone have an acoustic bass that Brandon could jam on? He's quite the bass player. Too hard to travel with instruments! I am so psyched for the 23rd. Thanks for pulling something together. I will let everyone I know back in MC to be there! Cool. Psyched to catch up with ya! See you there! B
