I had the good fortune to place with honors in the Great American Song Contest 2008...The song, "Better Angels", is listed above at the player or the video below is the same song live from the Bart Hawley Show with good friend and bass player Jeff Schott (although not the best version of the song, listen above instead)
I have the good fortune of many to thank and/or work with: Jodi Mcquade; vocals and harmonies, Jeff Schott; Bass and harmonies, Terry Mest; harmonies, co-recording partner and co-producer and the guy who say's "do the track again, that sucked!" The rest is just me....vocal, guitar, piano, mando, harmomies, and various other noises...
Influences
Traditional Country, Folk, Newgrass, pop from all era's. . . the list goes on. Everything from obscurity to drippy mundane top-40 pop. Key performer are John Denver, Dwight Yoakum, Hank Williams Sr., Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Allison Krauss, REM, Jim Croce, James Taylor, CSNY, The Beatles, Mavericks, Derailers, Dan Tyminski, Annie and Rod Capps, The Milroy's, and my Mom (she played a lot of "tear-jerker" traditional country when I was a child.)
As for the content of my songs, I thank the people that have come in, and sometimes, painfully...out of my life. Thank you for sharing a part of you with me.
John writes songs that echo the path we all travel; faith, love, hurt, and our ties to those around us. His style is eclectic and original. With a musical background stemming from acoustic rock, bluegrass, traditional country, and pop, John has a keen sense of melody and words. In 2008, John was awarded Finalist/Honnors in the national Great American Song Contest for his song "Better Angels" He also received honorable mention in the Great Lakes Songwriting Contest for "Give up my Heart" in 2007, and in 2005. John's solo performances are intimate and rich, demonstrating his talented songwriting and diverse background.
“…everyone has something to say. I have always been moved by our connections with others and how they shape our lives and experiences."
"With a clear, rich voice, effortless guitar picking and lovely, heart-felt songs, John Dobat is a singer/songwriter to be noticed. Whether he performs solo, as a duo or backed up by a whole troup of players, his style is genuine and charming and he always makes me smile." -Annie Capps, performing songwriter
"Your music is amazing. It soothed my morning.
Thanks and hopefully we will cross paths someday soon. Take care and enjoy the journey." -Jill Jack
John has shared the stage with many of Michigan’s talented songwriters and performers; Dan Hazlett, Jimmy Deheno, Ron McPhail, Bob Marshall, Dennis Kingsbury, Maggie Ferguson, Judy Insley,Bobby Pennock, John Finan,Beverly Myers, Dean Barnett, Luti Eberznik, and Brian Woods. I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.

Please submit your artist news and events to CountryHome Forum to help your artists to get well known better in Europe. If you do not have the time to submit your artist news and events by yourself, please send it me to: Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de and I will submit them by myself to CountryHome Forum.
I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks
Christian
