I have many interests but here are a few. Photography eats up most of my time but I love to try new things. Some old interests are cooking, wine, movies, all types of music, and believe it or not, I actually like cleaning. I love tattoos and piercings. I like people who are creative and empathetic.
Music
I like all types of music but if I had to choose it would be Vocal Trance, Progressive Trance, Goa-Psy Trance, Punk, Rap, R&B, Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Hard Rock, Metal and Classical. But the most BEAUTIFUL SOUND I HAVE HEARD ( other than Beethoven ) HAS BEEN Israel Kamakawiwo'oe's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". You must close your eyes and take it in. WOW! The man weighed over 700 lb.. When I feel sad I listen to it and think of his bio. He did so many great things and had a wonderful voice.
As soon as I heard this song I fell in love with it. It is one of those songs that transcends all languages and touches you.
Movies
I like to go to the movies but I really like films. Here are two of my favorite movies:
Immortal Beloved
Directed by Bernard Rose
The genius behind the music. The madness behind the man. The untold love story of Ludwig van Beethoven. Gary Oldman as Ludwig van Beethoven
Léon ( The Professional )
Directed by Luc Besson
Professional assassin Leon reluctantly takes care of Mathilda, a neighbor whose parents are killed, and teaches her his trade.
Jean Reno as Leon
Gary Oldman as Stansfield
Natalie Portman as Mathilda.
Television
I like the 'Daily Show' with Jon Stewart, the Simpsons, South Park, Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad, Harvey Birdman, and The Oblongs. I also watch the Discovery channel and the Discovery health channel and finally the History channel.
Books
Due to my Dyslexia I do not read much but right now I am reading " An Anthropologist on Mars" Seven Paradoxical Tales by Oliver Sacks.
Heroes
I actually hate the word hero I think it is over used, everyone and anyone can be a so called hero but if I had toanswer it would be Teachers that put the students first " the student never fails the teacher does".
Doctors that take the time to listen to their patients.
Firemen that are humble.
Police that use good judgment and empathize.
Looking for men or women with unique looks and styles. I love creative looks, especially hair. I would love to get a hold of a girl with a shaved head and with Blue or Green eyes.
I am looking for someone to promote me or even manage me. I need someone trustworthy and that would be passionate about taking part in a creative field and who's opinion in any matter will be taken seriously.

It is a work in progress so please be patient. Hello my name is John Filemyr. My interests consist of two things, photography and the pursuit of true love. I think I should give a little bit of history so that what I am about to divulge does not lead you to think any negative thoughts. My whole life I have suffered with dyslexia. I do not communicate well and it is a struggle to get what is in my head out and to my lips so I hope to do better with this form. I gather it will take me a while due to the fact it takes a while for me to recall facts. I just want to get it right. Dyslexia runs on my dad's side. I guess this is what makes us good artists. For the most part photography is the only way I can show people how I feel and it also lets me show people how I view the world.
When most people view my work they see a style I am unable to see but I am sure it must be there. I have been told that I make women look ethereal. I do see that because that is how I see them. I see many people like that even a man can be shot this way but I tend to shoot more women. Do not get confused what I do is important to me I would never jeopardize my business over feelings. Seeing people as ethereal is a good thing. I can still view them as ethereal beings and not be confused. When I was a kid I thought everyones parents were soul mates. I mean why else would they get married and have kids. How dare they settle for anything less. Well I soon found out the truth, but this did not shatter my dreams. I too have hopes and dreams of my own true soul mate. This belief will affect my look on the world and my feelings towards the opposite sex.
(You can see why I have decided to shoot Weddings. To me it is the most beautiful time in someone's life, second to the birth of your own child.)
Well I thought I would fill you in on my life so far. I was a good kid but I did get into some trouble. I was never an A student like my twin yes I said twin. I have a twin brother. He was an A student in school. He taught at Drexel while he was attending. And here I was, I got transferred out of his school because they could not teach students with dyslexia, so I got transferred to public school and to put a cap on it I got held back in the 4th grade. In about 7th grade I started working out. This was something I was good at. At my peek I was curling 150 lbs. and benching 380 lbs. This was not my max I never did that this was my sets. While this was going on I picked photo science as one of my classes in 11th grade. I took some photos but not a lot. I kind of was a slacker with my classes, I would always leave and go to the gym to work out my teachers hated that. Well Mr. Lefts my photo science teacher liked my photos, when I did the assignments, so the next year they put me in the Art Photo class which was for the A students. So during my 12th year in Art photo I got expelled for stun gunning a student. I was reinstated when they found out that it was not me. This however became a turning point in my life. During the 12th grade I was looking at the Marines. I was going to be a Marine when I graduated. Well the day I got reinstated Mr. Denick told me to get his camera and to come and go on the field trip with the rest of the class. He let me use his equipment. This meant a lot to me. He never let any one use his equipment. All year he would bust my balls about the color mats I was using, but he would always tell me how good I was and that felt good. He was the only person out side of the gym who said that. The only problem was that I took my ASFAB test instead of my SAT. I thought that would be a problem but when I went to look at colleges I found one that didn't take SAT's. That College was Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography. In my first semester I would win "Best of Show", this was the fist time in the school's history that a first semester student had won this award due to the fact that you had to compete against all the winners including the graduating class. This annoyed a lot of the 4th semester students. During my second year, towards the end, I was in a car accident. I was hit by a cop doing 60 mph. Not to relive it but I had slowed down to make a right turn when a cop comes and hits me from behind. He broke my axle and spun the Van a complete 360 degrees. I suffered a concussion and had to drop out of school until I was better. It took me two years to heal I suffered from a sort of amnesia. I came back to school the following year and became enveloped in my work. I had won 1st or 2nd prize in every photo competition they had. They told me, upon graduating that I was the first, First Semester Student to win Best of Show and that I had won the most awards by any other student, and that this had never been done before.
After I graduated, I started promoting myself. It was a lot of work but I started to get jobs, and I was on my own. Well a few months go by and I get a call from the man who did our portfolio review. He tells me that the photographer below him on the second floor is looking for an assistant and would I be interested, and I said yes. I worked for this photographer for about a year before going back to being self employed. I was getting too many of my own jobs and for what I was doing at the studio a student or an intern would be more appropriate. Well this lasted for two years when an old teacher from my college asked me if I would like to do his color printing. A few days later I call him, I thought I could use the extra cash. Well it turned into a full time job. He could talk a Nun into doing a Bikini calendar shoot. I would soon regret ever working for this photographer. That brought back some bad memories so lets move on. Well after him I decided to be on my own. I learned the hard way not to take on partners. They would use my work to get themselves jobs.
My twin brother lost function in both kidneys in December of 2003. I immediately offered to donate one of mine. It turned out that I was a perfect match and on August 31, 2004 they operated and gave one of my kidneys to my brother.
I will be throwing one hell of a Party and my old friends will not be disappointed. As so many of you know the Filemyr photography / Photo-Illustrations gallery party is long over due.
I would also like to thank all my friends who were there for me in my time of need, you are true friends.
I think I have written enough for now. I will finish another day.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet just about everyone, Except strippers and drug addicts. Life is better when there is diversity but not that diverse.
