John Flanagan grew up listening to the likes of James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel and Joan Baez and has blended this acoustic, story telling tradition into his simple and expressive style of bluegrass/folk. He has been performing around Melbourne since 2004 as a singer and songwriter for 5 piece Melbourne band Glory Tuesday, who combine soulful melodies with a grooving rhythm section to create their unique style of folk-infused funk.
Travelling around Australia with his guitar and banjo at the start of 2008, John’s music has been inspired by the many faces and landscapes of this country. He has since joined forces with seasoned musicians Jane Patterson, Andy Zito and Mark Zito to perform the songs from his debut solo album 'Meet Me In Between'. Their warm 3-part vocal harmonies and delicate acoustic textures are now a part of Melbourne's thriving folk scene where they perform under the name 'John Flanagan and the Begin Agains'
