Biography Version 2.0 ------ Well, where do I start? I guess I’ll begin by mentioning that the first instrument I ever played was the tuba. That lasted about 3 years until I got to high school, where I abandoned the instrument in lieu of getting my ass kicked by the cool kids. Sometime during that era I also took piano lessons. Although I am grateful now, all I remember about them is that they were boring. It wasn’t until my senior year in high school that I discovered the guitar. I immediately fell in love with the instrument and proceeded to play it every chance I had. The first song I learned was Nirvana’s “Come As You Are”. After a while I started to write my own songs. At first they pretty much sucked, but like anything else they got better over time. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally decided to take a chance on the Orlando open mic scene. It was here that I cut my teeth on playing in front of mostly inebriated people who couldn’t have cared less if I was on stage or not. Although I didn’t realize it at the time, I was laying down the foundation of what would ultimately be my fan base. It wasn’t long after this that I started my first band. In hindsight, I believe that we were quite possibly the worst band on the face of the earth. We rehearsed for a year straight just to play one show and then break up. It was then that I decided to become a solo artist so I could focus on making myself better. I immediately decided to take vocal lessons, and proceeded to get classically trained for 2 years. During this same period I started booking solo gigs at some of the clubs around town. Over a period of about 2 years, I went from playing dive bars to playing some of the best music venues in town. I also managed to find some fantastic musicians to back me up. They are much better than me and I’m comfortable with that. In May of 2006, I released my first EP “Anywhere But Here”. I then spent the next year and a half touring up and down the east coast supporting the record. It was by far one of the best experiences of my life, and I cannot wait to go out and do it again. Which leads us to now: In May of 2008 I released my sophomore EP “The Spaces Between”. It’s a collection of songs that are very dear to me and I hope that you'll give them a listen. Better yet, I hope you like them enough to give me your hard earned money. The record is available at my live shows, and on-line at ITunes and cdbaby.com. Before I go I want to mention that I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to stop by my page. I love hearing from everybody so feel free to drop me a line whenever about whatever. Thanks for all of your support and I hope to see you at a show real soon. ~ John
