Red Hot Chili Peppers, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, the Germs, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, KISS, Captain Beefheart, David Bowie, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Depeche Mode, Ornette Coleman, Joy Division, The Clash, the list goes on ...
The Empyrean is my new record and will be released worldwide via Record Collection on January 20th 2009. It was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008. It is a concept record that tells a single story both musically and lyrically. The story takes place within one person, and there are two characters. It contains a version of Tim Buckley’s, ‘Song To The Siren’ and the rest of the songs are written by me. My friend Josh plays on it, as does Flea. It also features Sonus Quartet, Johnny Marr and The New Dimension Singers. I'm really happy with it and I've listened to it a lot for the psychedelic experience it provides. It should be played as loud as possible and it is suited to dark living rooms late at night.
John, I hate it that you left...but nobody can change that but you. You have inspired me to learn the guitar and I owe a favor to you for that...I learned so much by watching you like your 2 note inventions and funk style...Thank You so much...I'd love it if you came to San Diego...I'd bring my best friend who I am sure is you biggest fan...EVER. He hasnt gone a day without talking about John Frusciante. Thank You...only if you knew how much I owe you...lets just say me learning guitar has gotten me what I needed in life
good job, theres no undoing whats done, and whats done was plentiful and i loved all of it for what it was... which is amazing music. i just hope you keep making more music and expanding your creativity beyond what you were able to with the band. and keep collaborating with other people too. everyone can use a little frusciante..

man i cant believe your leaving the red hot chili peppers again arnt they like family to you... but who am i to judge your decision even if i may be dissapointed you have to do what you have to do. still the chili pepeprs been my favorite band since i was like 5 or 6 i still remember watching the first power ranger movie and hearing higher ground play in the beggining this introduced me to you guys and ive been in love since. I still wish you luck with your own solo career just stay created and be your self
I think al the 'fuck you you selfish bastard' comments are really lame and immature. As equally are the 'john frusciante is God' ones.
By the time i was 12 i knew Blood Sugar... note by note. Niandra LeDes... is my favourite album of all time. Number one.
You have been a most inspiring example to me as someone who endevours to embody themselves fully, removing filters, and allowing creativity to flow in fun, and joy and vitality, no censors.
Blood Sugar actually has helped me contact a part of my masculinity that our culture tells me is is 'bad, nuaghty, dirty', but is in effect a HUGE ingredient in my health, happiness and productivity.
Thankyou john, for giving. All my love and luck for whatever you are chosen to do.
Do what thou whilt. Love is the Law. Love under Will.
John, I don't think you'll ever even read this but I would just like to say this so at least I can say I got it off my chest. It's good to want to pursue your own interests, but that is always to an extent. Haven't you already done this before? I mean, the Chili Peppers must be kind of like your family and what you are doing seems like you're turning your back on them. I've been one of yours and the Chili Peppers biggest fans for more than half of my life and it was my dream to see you guys in concert, but now that can't happen. There are some people that say true fans wouldn't go against what you say, but they're just kissing your ass. I'm telling you that what you are doing is like taking Jimi Page out of Led Zeppelin in 1971, sure they could have still gone on but who would have wanted to see that. I'll just end on a quote by Frank Zappa, "The rock and roll business is pretty absurd, but the world of serious music is much worse."
If i am correct that Josh Klinghoffer is now taking up the role of RHCP guitarist. then in a way, you never left the band. Having worked with you on many projects, Josh is most probably your closest equal....like himself but with your shadow. nonetheless, you and the Chili's remain my favourite artist/band ever!
It hurts... It's a painful notice, but i really believe that if this is your real wish... all will come to you successful, as now! You are a great musician!!! Seriously, I admire you, respect you and love you a lot!
John Frusciante is God.
I'm sure that a lot of people share this opinion with me.
ps. You will make me very very happy if you come to Mexico city someday...
Good luck for the best contemporary guitarrist!!!!!
Hey John, im pretty unhappy about you leaving. I know its your life and your decision, but it still sucks for your fans. I just got old enough where I am able to go pay for and travel to a Chili Peppers concert and I have no desire to. Its no longer going to be the four funky monks making sweet noise together, whoever you are replaced with can never feel your shoes. The other guys in the band are great, but to me its not the red hot chili peppers anymore. So my number one dream in the world is now ruined forever, and I thought I was so close to realizing it.
But besides that, thanks for everything you've done for me. You inspired me to play guitar and the emotion you convey when you play is one of a kind and very inspiring. You're one of the best musicians who has ever lived and its a shame that i'll never get to see you. =[
Sad to see you leave RHCP but scine Rhcp is not preoccupying you anymore make me a promise make your next album better than the empearyum ( enven though its a master peice)
I have been a huge fan of the chili peppers for alot os years, it takes a strong person to do thier own thing. I say go do it and be happy music is the light of the univesrse , alot of amazing artists are free spirited and special and are meant to have thier own path . Good Luck You will do good not matter what . you are talented , smart and know your music that is great!
Bummed about RHCP but as the Great Joseph Campbell says "Follow your Bliss" I listen to your song "Unreachable" and also "Funky Monks" everyday and they are absurdly amazing.
as much as it hurts to know you'll be leaving the band, i wish you the best you're a magician with the guitar keep rocking out!!We all know whoever the next RHCP guitarist is they will never be able to replace the world's greatest guitar player John Frusciante. God bless -Angel Ortega
""The present day composer refuses to die." Edgard Varese " was often quoted by Frank Zappa.
Follow the song in your heart, it will be the best song you will play. It is through music that we share our hearts with the world. Best of luck in your music!
Hi john. You're a great artist I love your music, I get one day play the guitar like you That's great you're doing good I leave a greeting from mexico city bye Fausto
John, you're still my favorite guitarist and I love everything I've heard from you. I'm happy there's no hard feelings between you and the band, but I doubt the Chili Peppers will ever be the same without you. Have fun being yourself! :D
