The members of this dynamic performing unit come from diverse musical backgrounds and are equally at home playing straight ahead, Latin, or contemporary jazz. They are active in the NYC performing and recording scenes and have worked with many renowned artists. Most are composers, and have recorded as leaders. The band has two C.D.’s out “Collective Jazz” and “Blast From the Past” and is currently working on its third album. KEN GIOFFRE and OLE MATHISEN man the Saxes. Ken is currently with Smokey Robinson’s touring band and has performed with such luminaries as Nancy Wilson, B. B. King, Dianne Reeves, Tito Puente, The Temptations, Cab Calloway, Dr. John, Michael Bolton, Queen Latifa, Buddy Guy, Ben E. King, Toots Thielmans, John Pattitucci, Will Lee, and Randy Brecker. He is an active performer on the New York scene, as well as touring internationally and working as a studio musician. OLE MATHISEN resides in New York City where he is a film and TV composer, record producer, and arranger. He is a seasoned jazz and saxophone educator, and has conducted clinics and given private lessons in many parts of the world, including Japan, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Canada, and the USA. His performing credits include; Louie Vega, Omar Hakim, Darryl Jones, Hiram Bullock, Mark Egan, Steve Smith, Peter Erskine, Eddie Gomez, Badal Roy, Rufus Reid, Ron Carter, Grady Tate, Claudio Roditi, Will Lee, Randy Brecker, Kenwood Dennard, Gil Goldstein, Lew Soloff, and Tiger Okoshi, French horn player CHRIS KOMER bridges the gap between the sax and brass sections. Leader Fumasoli upon forming the band, wanted to add an extra color to the brass and woodwinds, hence the addition of the French horn. Chris is an active studio and freelance musician in New York City. His orchestral experience includes stints with the N.Y. Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Spoleto Festival in Italy and currently he holds contracted positions with the N.J. Symphony and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He has done numerous Broadway shows and participated in the first Barbara Streisand world tour. Leader and trombonist JOHN FUMASOLI is both an accomplished performer as well as educator. He can be heard on recordings by the Average White Band, Marion Meadows, Bob Baldwin, Jeff Golub’s Avenue Blue, Robby Dupree, and Bryan Torff’s Thunderstick and has performed with Tony Bennett, The Rippingtons, The Gil Evans Band, Joey Calderazzo, Gerry Mulligan, Diana Ross, The Temptations, and the Four Tops. He is on the faculty of Fairfield University and Fairfield Public Schools and has numerous compositions and arrangements published by D.I.D. publishing. Bass trombonist RANDY ANDOS anchors the brass section. He has performed and recorded with Spyro Gyra, Don Sebesky, Bob James, Cornell Dupree, Manhattan Transfer, N.Y. Voices, Roland Vasquez, Howard Johnson’s “Gravity”, and Buster Poindexter. An accomplished doubler on tenor and bass trombone as well as tuba, Randy has performed on numerous Broadway shows and show recordings including Damn Yankees, The Man from Oz, La Cage aux Folles, Mary Poppins, Nine, and 1776. The Trumpet section is made up of TONY KADLECK and SCOTT WENDHOLT. Tony has been praised as a highly effective sideman, who has lent his hand to numerous musical activities. He is currently one of the most sought-after trumpet players in the metro New York area and has worked with Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Blood Sweat and Tears and Andrea Bocelli to name a few. Kadleck has also done a great deal of composing. His debut CD "Extended Outlook", features eight of his original works, about which Tony says, "There is nothing more gratifying than hearing spectacular musicians making these songs come to life." SCOTT WENHOLDT has worked with the likes of Bob Mintzer, Don Braden, as well as such groups like The Woody Herman Big Band, The Mingus Dynasty Band, The Vanguard Orchestra, The Fred Hersch Quintet, and the Bruce Barth Quintet. He has also recorded with Chip Jackson, Billy Drummond, Max Roach, Joey Barron, Kenny Garrett, Cyrus Chestnut, Christian McBride, and Bobby McFerrin. In addition, Scott has numerous critically acclaimed albums out as a leader. Keyboard player ROB ARIES anchors the rhythm section. Rob has toured and recorded with artists including guitarist John Scofield, Special EFX, Elements, saxophonist Bill Evans, Brazilian pianist Eliane Elias, and singers Liza Minnelli, Melba Moore and Freddie Jackson (for whom he produced a song on his multi-platinum debut record). He also produced and co-wrote several songs on saxophonist Donald Harrison's CTI release "The Power of Cool", and played and composed for the late saxophonist Cornelius Bumpus' (Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Boz Scags) release, "Known Fact" on Palmetto records. Bassist DAVE ANDERSON has performed and recorded with some of the top names in contemporary jazz, including Special EFX, Philippe Saisse, Regina Carter, Warren Hill, Marion Meadows, Richard Elliot, Hiram Bullock, Chuck Loeb, Peter White, Bob Baldwin, Joe Beck, The Harris Brothers, and others. His current work finds him balancing a schedule as an in-demand sideman and pursuing his own career, developing new approaches and contexts for the electric bass in collaboration with some of the most respected players in the business. He is the owner of Flying Squirrel recording studio where the Jones Factor’s second album was mixed. THIERRY ARPINO (drums) was born near Paris. He first studied piano and classical percussion in the French capital, but he quickly developed an interest for modern drumming and started performing with rock, jazz and world music groups in Europe. He toured and recorded with West African star Manu Dibango before joining forces with Jean Luc Ponty, who hired him in 1997 for his amazing virtuosity and great sensitivity. Thierry now lives in New York where he also performs with local musicians between tours with JLP's band. In addition he has performed with Joe Beck, Tony Purrone, Mark Egan, and Brian Torff. Now with the water so unclean, we have no true healing. Even our brothers and sisters, the dolphins and whales, can no longer stay in the water, as it burns their skin.
How will you survive when you cannot drink from the water of life? "Who shall give these little ones water?"

Believing is three-quarters of the battle. Magic happens when one person truly believes, and touches another person, and then that person believes, and so it grows.

Do not kill me
Before you see me
And I you
So we can find our place
To believe

Dear Colleagues!

Thank you for your friendship!

I'm happy and honored to inform you that our new album "MASISAMBA"
is almost ready to be released via internet! (there is some artwork left to do).
Thank you very much for your interest in what we do.
Our MySpace player plays more than 100 times over night ! ! ! ! ! !
It inspires my colleagues ! ! ! ! !
There is not much real Big Band music in today's world.
To be frank, it takes a lot of effort to keep musicians together.
So your interest helps me to cope with this!

cordially,
Armen Martirosian, artistic director, Armenian Jazz Band

In the house made of down
In the house made of the evening twilight
In the house made of the dark cloud
In the house made of the he-rain
In the house made of the dark mist
Oh, male divinity!
With your moccasins of dark cloud
Come to us
With your leggings of dark cloud
Come to us
With your shirt of dark cloud
Come to us
With the dark thunder above you
Come to us soaring
With the shapen cloud at your feet
