Working: The JH Staff & Crew Volunteers: The John Harbor's Junkies
Influences
Shawn Mullins & Willie Porter embody the essence of coffee house music. These two musicians have molded my music tastes and talent. There are a few notable others such as U2, Third Day, Jars of clay, and The Counting Crows.

Acoustic Coffee House Music :: Rock / Indie / Modern Folk / Jazz / Blues
In 2006, a few individuals put their passion on the line and opened John Harbor's. Since then, John Harbor's has been discovered by coffee house aficionados and musicians. The biggest honor we get is the consistent statement, "I can't believe this exists, much less out in Menomonee Falls". John Harbor's is musician friendly on top of having the best coffee and food in town. We strive to help musicians meet their audience and to help the audience to get to know the musicians.
Since our humble beginnings where we just hoped for good music, we've found that good music now finds us. We have added the responsibility of helping the musicians reach the next level in their craft to our to-do list. And... they've rewarded us with their talent.
John Harbor's Main Street Coffee House is a place for good coffee, food, music, and people.
Notes for Musicians:
1. Band Payment: Bands can work with the John Harbor's staff to set an appropriate cover charge before the event. The band is responsible to post someone at the door to take the cover charge, and the band is allowed to take home the cover charge. (most bands will have to show that they can draw a crowd and that the crowd is willing to pay the cover first)
JH does not pay musicians (sorry, we are not a bar and our profit margin and therefore budget is much lower). We are, however, an ALL AGES, non-smoking venue that does serve alcohol and food as well (which we like to offer to the band for the fact that we have that non-payment thingy). We can also assist with marketing, websites, myspace, and facebook as well. Oh, and we can get ya pretty buzzed up on coffee too if ya like.
note: if you need to use the house PA, John Harbor's will collect one dollar per person out of the cover charge to cover upkeep and replacement costs. (ok... so we don't really inforce this one)
2. Volume is great. But... we can have fun without blowing anyone's ear drums. There are apartments above the venue and we would prefer that they didn't feel like they were IN the band. Please do not violate this rule and we will continue to ask you back.
UPDATE - just a note, it is very difficult to get away with drums at our place -sorry. Brushes on drums work alright, but the drummer still has to play lightly. We are not really looking for drums in our musicians, but may possibly be able to be persuaded - let us know if you have drums! Drum kits (those little electronic thingies) seem to work pretty well though.
Thx! -Jeremy
