Before reading from the new biography, hailed by critics as a comprehensive, definitive biography of The King of Porn, Sugar read a letter from Seka, which introduced the final guest speaker, Laurie Holmes.
Ms. Holmes had appeared on the "Night Calls" show on Playboy Radio the previous evening and endorsed the new biography about her late husband.
Of the other people interviewed for the book, several have positively commented on the way the authors used their quotes in entirety and in context, to construct their "oral history" of John Holmes, and have also expressed gratitude that INCHES captures the many facets - "the good, the bad, and the extremely ugly" - of John Curtis Holmes.

Dr. Vonda L. Pelto, Ph.d. (who met John Holmes while working as a psychologist in the L.A. County Jail) recently published a new book, WITHOUT REMORSE - THE STORY OF THE WOMAN WHO KEPT THE LOS ANGELES' SERIAL KILLERS ALIVE.
About me: There were many reasons why I exaggerated the truth and fabricated stories during the height of my fame as the World's First Porn Star. The truth is - I was born in the middle of Ohio in 1944 and dropped out of school to join the army at age 16. I was stationed for three years in Nuremberg, Germany before I made my way out to California in search of fame and fortune.
Between working various odd jobs, I discovered opportunities as a nude model, but I kept that a secret from my first wife (whom I married in 1965). She eventually found out because my work as a nude model parlayed into the burgeoning world of adult films!
In 1970, I accepted a role that changed my life forever - the randy private dick, Johnny Wadd. At that time, the director didn't realize what he had created; the movie was instantly popular and we made eight more JOHNNY WADD films. I also worked in hundreds of other adult films during that decade. It was my pleasure to work with many beautiful actresses, service wealthy women as a gigolo on the side, plus I had several extra-marital relationships.
My longest affair began in the early '70s, when I began to experiment with drugs. Just like anyone else, I never intended on becoming an addict. I was afraid to admit I'd lost control of my life, but it was true. In my constant search for drugs, I associated with people that I would have previously crossed the street to avoid. The lowest point of my life was in the summer of 1981, when I double-crossed one of these associates and then found myself connected to an unsolved, multiple homicide. Although I was acquitted on those murder charges, I was held in contempt of court because I refused to divulge the details of what I knew.
In November of 1982, I was released from prison and on the set of my comeback film, MARATHON, I met a young adult actress who became my second wife. We enjoyed family life together for a few years, until I tested positive for HIV in 1986. The way I looked at it, I wasn't interested in prolonging the inevitable; I passed away on March 13, 1988. Ironically, it became legal in August 1988 to make pornographic films in California. So, I never worked legally in adult films, but after 20 years, my legacy lives on; they call me The King, but to those who know me well, I was just John.
TTJWIH looks great! I ordered the newly released "Johnny Wadd" the other day, specifically for Bob's commentary. I'm happy that we were able to include a review of "JW" in time for "Inches".
