John Ian is a German singer/songwriter currently living in Canada. Inspired by musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Counting Crows and many others John Ian has written original music since he was 16.
His songs are marked by musical minimalism, often the focus is on the lyrics which sometimes tell stories, sometimes can simply be called melancholic poetry and are characterized by a strong imagery. As a solo artist, John Ian records his songs on multiple tracks playing guitars, piano and harmonica.
After a longer break, John Ian started writing and performing again in 2006. In 2007 he won the third prize in an international songwriting contest and performed his winning song live at the award ceremony in New York City.
In 2008 John moved to Canada and is currently working on several independent projects.
So far, musically, 2008 has been a quiet year for John Ian. But things are happening below the surface and will become visible and audible when the time is right.
Hi John, Thanks for the message, and sorry for not to have replied before. As you say, we like the same music, we like the same bands, and so on, :) I do like your music too. Good job. Will keep listening. Hugs
