My most recent band is Pie Rats.
We're a baby band just learning how to walk and sing at the same time. A little more metal and little more melody here.
I also play guitar, write and sing in D'Jelly Brains . We're punk but not in the way a lot of bands are. We're not pop nor are we hard core. D'Jelly Brains...more like the original era (or eras if you include the garage punk era) of punk when bands were more creative, open-minded, off the wall and more interested in art than commerce. Anyway, go to http://www.jellybrains.com or find us on myspace.
My old band was VKTMS....(older and stronger than dirt...) VKTMS stuph....
VKTMS released a single on 415 Records - "No Long Good-Byes"/"100% White Girl", a song ("Ballad of Pincushion Smith") on the S.F. Underground ep (on Subterranean Records, along with Flipper, No Alternative and the Tools), another 7" with four songs on it (including "Midget") which has become an overly expensive collector's item (actually this was our first record)- all in the 1980s, and a self-titled limited edition album (on virgin vinyl of course, recorded in 1981-82 but released in 1995). In July,1996 we put out a double EP package, with one EP of newly recorded material combined with a rerelease of the "Midget"EP.
***We released a CD in 1997 containing most everything we've ever recorded plus some surprises on Broken Rekids . This was a true blessing as it brought a lot
of attention and finally some validation. It also brought a lot old friends back in touch and also a lot of new ones. We got mail from around the world. Way cool.
We are at http://www.myspace.com/vktms if you wanna know more.
Other than that...
I'm from Florida. St. Pete and then Gainseville.
After VKTMS (first time around) I went back to school and miraculously became a graduate of UC Berkeley (BA, with Honors and Distinction) and UC Davis (MA, Composition) in Music. Even though I teach various classes at Holy Names University in Oakland (since 1998), I came back to what I do best.....playing in bands.
What's this??!! Throwing in the towel over a little lost bas player! Come on now....you're just getting your wheels greasy. You better not stop! I won't if you won't. XOX Katherine Wire G
