It was a natural progression for John Jones to start manning the decks at the age of 15 after collecting specialist dance (house) music for a previous 3 years, on top of already possessing an extensive collection of soul, mo-town and funk albums. I was influenced by the likes of Masters at Work, MK, Fire Island, David Morales, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Joey Negro, Mood II Swing and X-Press II.
John came to link up with Hed Kandi in late 2000 after a number of Residencies. The label was growing at a fantastic rate and John was brought in because of a his ability to read and rock a dancefloor.
Versitile......Intensely creative in his style and with a vibrant personality which he projects into his sets and onto the crowd, he was in keeping perfectly with the Hed Kandi ethos, he impressed Hed Kandi ex Head Honcho Mark Doyle and long-standing Kandi resident and friend; Andy Norman. Finally he now got the chance to play his music to his kind of people who where eager to hear what we giving them. For a DJ on a consistent basis, there is nothing better. The strive to impress and connect with the crowd in every set he plays has established John as one of the most respected Headlining Hed Kandi DJ's and part of an amazing team
8 years later and having toured as a Kandi resident worldwide in cities such as New York, Miami, Sydney, Christchurch (New Zealand), San Francisco, Paris, Bogotá (Columbia), Reykjavik, Moscow, Ibiza, Majorca, Marbella, Glasgow, Dublin and Barcelona (with the stand out gigs having to be David Morales "Club Stereo" in Montreal which was mind-blowing and what id consider as the best club in the world, and also playing New Years Day @ Gatecrasher with Erick Morillo in 2006) alongside countless residencies up and down the UK and having guest mixes / appearnaces on Galaxy Fm, Smooth Fm, Kiss 100 in the Uk and Cada Cien in Ibiza.
John openly admits....I can honestly say that I am having the time of my life at the moment. Its what I have worked and strived to achieve and through Hed Kandi we are giving people up front in your face quality house music, whether it be deep underground funk to uplifting commercial vocal dance. Its nice to be able to go to a gig and deliver a twist on what people are going to want, varying gigs have different tastes so you can go from a nice soulful disco vocal session, to a full on twisted dirty house set. Its great to have that free range.. thats what Kandi is to me, accessible stylish house music as a product that looks, smells and tastes good, for people that love music.
Production-wise he am one half of Beaver & Jones alongside Marvin Beaver (Dylan Rhymes). Their first track "Be With You Tonight" Ft. Katherine Ellis appeared on Hed kandi's "Twisted Disco" compilation and is forth-coming on Peppermint Jam with new mixes. Following that they have provided remixes for; D.O.N.S - Big Fun on Hed Kandi/MOS and Pete Walshe - Gonna Miss Me. Their new single "Blue" is now ready to launch on the Roo 2 imprint and John has just had an edit of Miguel Picasso - Dont Stop approved and being supported by Roger Sanchez coming out on Stealth.
New projects include a new single coming out as "The Collective" alongside Steve Norman, Martin Mayhem and Peyton, with our cover of "Promised Land" due out on Jamie Lewis "Purple Music", added to that a whole batch up new material up and coming.........so watch this space.
John is also extremely proud to have just mixed the "Hed Kandi World Series Album Ibiza" alongside Wez Clarke and Phil Faversham, which is gaining tremendous reviews already.......Available in all good stores now!
Hed Kandi has given me a chanel to express myself through the brand on a world-wide scale, playing good music to good people who love it. Just as much as I do.

Tempered DJ's are back in full force following on from the powerful 'Escape' (Tempered DJ's & Tiny) which has performed very well with a couple of compilation licenses to boot. This time around Tempered team up with Ellesse - well respected on the circuit as being the man behind the fantastic Kaluki nights now at AREA 51 in Manchester. The production on 'Rocket Science' is top notch as ever and the exceptional Mark Holmes & OD Muzique remix drops like a bomb and should keep the growing army of MUM followers satisfied.
