I started playing guitar at the age of 9. It became clear music would be important in my life on February 9, 1964 when I saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show.
From an early age I was exposed to guitar greats such as Chet Atkins, Doc Watson and Mississippi John Hurt. Traditional bluegrass and country music have stayed with me for many years. During my late teen years I switched to studying jazz and that lead to a whole new form of expression.
In my 20s I got involved in the local rock scene in Philadelphia and became the guitarist for Robert Hazard and the Heros, who went on to write Cyndi Laupers hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
As twists of fate often happen, a sudden and unexpected departure from the Heros led the way to joining another local band, The Hooters in 1983. Originally founded by Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian, who later went on to pen such hits as Time After Time for Cyndi Laupers She So Unusual and One of Us for Joan Osbornes debut album Relish
The Hooters debut release "Nervous Night", on Columbia Records, sold in excess of 2 million copies and included Billboard Top 40 hits "Day By Day" (..18), "And We Danced" (..21) and "Where Do The Children Go" (..38). With a total of six albums, the Hooters achieved worldwide attention and acclaim throughout the '80s and '90s.
We toured across America, Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and Australia in the 80s and 90's performing at historic events including opening the Live Aid Concert in Philadelphia 1985, Amnesty International Concert at Giants Stadium 1986 and Rodger Waters The Wall Concert in Berlin 1990.
The Hooters reunited in Nov. 21st 2001 and performed at the Spectrum in Philadelphia for WMMR DJ Pierre Robert's 20th Anniversary party.

Hey john, I really like the new songs you just put up! Listening to" In The Driver's Seat" and quite impressed with your songwriting ..very personal and deep..really fantastic!! Just right in your face real!! I love it! I am all about words. (when used right they can be a true vocalization for the heart )You have got it dead on! As far as "Second Chance" goes.. I couldn't sit..I had to actually get up and dance around my apartment while listening..if my neighbors can see me they are gonna call the guys with the white coats!(smiling) What a great tune!x
Fabulous show last night! I was happy I was able to be at your "Maiden Voyage" with your new band. I knew with all the talent you have & had with you in your band it was going to be something very special to experience. If last night was any indication of things to come I know you’ll continue to blow people away with your music.
Also, had to mention what an amazing stage presence you have. It was great to see you as the front man & your lively, fun personality being shown. It was obvious you & all the guys were enjoying yourselves. It filtered out into the crowd which made the night even more enjoyable. Sadly the “other band” you’re in doesn’t utilize all your talents, but then if they did maybe you would never have shared yourself with us as a solo artist.
