With his Voltage EP (2004), Cyril Thévenard founds the musical identity of John Lord Fonda. But his first album “Debaser”, released on Citizen Records in 2006, definitely establishes his style. Hyped up with rock and rave culture, this warmly welcome album sends him on tour for several months.
On stage, John Lord Fonda re-creates his live every night, including from time to time a hit from the Beastie Boys or Donna Summer in his set. This allows him to play with these tracks and to glorify them in another way. The seeds of Composite are planted and will become, later on, an amazing tangle of live bootlegs.
Composite, or when Public Enemy meets Sebastien Tellier…
Composite is a restitution of this scenic project undergoing constant mutation, evolving depending on the artist’s wishes. Along the 55 minutes of this mix, John Lord Fonda reveals without restraint his musical universe, demanding but open, knowing how to conjugate with refinement classical, hip-hop and electronic music.
Many artists have been invited by John Lord Fonda on this album : Sergeï Prokofiev, Daft Punk, Crash Course in Science, Laurent Dailleau, Public Enemy, James Holden and Adam Kesher are among the chosen people.
Avec le Voltage EP (2004), Cyril Thévenard pose les fondations du son John Lord Fonda. Mais “Debaser” (2006), son premier album paru sur Citizen Records, impose définitivement son style. Shooté à la culture rock et rave, cet album hautement salué par la critique le conduit sur la route durant plusieurs mois.
Sur scène, John Lord Fonda réinvente chaque soir son live. Il inclue de temps à autre dans son set un classique des Beastie Boys ou de Donna Summer. L’occasion pour lui de jouer avec ces titres et de les magnifier autrement. Les graines de Composite sont déjà plantées et deviendront, un peu plus tard, un enchevêtrement de bootlegs live imparables.
