Martin has been compared to Kenny Chesney and Trace Adkins. He has always admired George Jones. It was that admiration that inspired him to become a country music artist. As his love of country music has grown, so has his list of "heroes". ("Heroes" is also the title of Song 1 on John's new CD). John not only sings, but writes his own music. He has written over 400 songs.

John Martin & The Southern Drive Band has opened shows for Pam Tillis and Asleep at the Wheel, and has headlined across the South at legendary clubs such as Billy Bob's Texas, the Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville, and Eddie's Attic and Smith's Old Bar in Atlanta. The band has also played at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge and The Nashville Palace at the 2005 Country Music Awards Festival, as well as for over 4,000 troops aboard the USS Harry S. Truman Naval Aircraft Carrier.
Blending country, bluegrass, and southern rock, John has been compared to George Jones, Waylon Jennings,, and Trace Adkins. A Singer-songwriter and guitarist, John has been performing country music for audiences since he was 10-years old. He has written and performed more than 400 original tunes and has won more that 30 talent contest across Georgia and Tennessee. He has one independently released album, "No Fear", which he sells while playing at country music clubs from Alabama to Texas, where his song. "Honky Tonk PhD." hit the Top 40 on The Ranch-KFWR in Forth Worth.John is now signed to Alpha Star Records in Charlotte,N.C. He is preparing to head over to tour the Netherlands.,and working on songs for his next album.
