WHO AM I?

I am a musician (bassist, guitarist, singer and songwriter) who performs solo and with three outfits: the Alternative "Open Wound"., Blues and Roots trio "Djangle" and Folk/Pop duo "French Connexion". I am also a student and practitioner of spiritual disciplines which are found in Yoga (Buddhist and Hindu forms), the Western Magickal Tradition (Kabbalah, Gnosis, Enochian Magick), Esoteric Freemasonry, Christianity and Mysticism. I was the editor of the popular Neo Pagan Times 7 years ago (some editions still exist here: Pandora Archive). For me the Divine is both white and black, however, it also transcends them. I am not a Satanist although there was a time I fully explored the dark side of the human psyche. Like many fellow spiritual seekers I find fundamentalism of any type dangerous and repugnant. Regarding secrecy perhaps the time has come for us to show all sides of our being without worrying about what others think. We are getting closer to each other daily. If we are all one how can we hide from each other?

A virtuoso bass player, competent guitarist and fiercely independent artist, John has worked with numerous outfits including world-renowned Perth Blues slide guitarist Dave Hole in Dave Hole and the Helping Hands. He has performed across Australia and in England. As a member of the Punk/Gothic Arcane Delights and the Alternative Open Wound (with Keith Anthonisz) he was instrumental in the development of the 80s Perth Independent Music scene. Memorable performances include the inaugural Bindoon Rock Festival with Dave Hole and the legendary Perth Gothic nightclub The Red Parrot with Arcane Delights. He is currently working with Punk/Alternative trio OPEN WOUND, Blues/Roots trio DJANGLE and French Folk trio FRENCH CONNEXION. John McNair has absolutely no interest whatsoever in becoming a "commercial success", getting a record deal or "playing the game" in any way. He became a musician through love of music, not as a means to an end, financial or otherwise. He has never been fashionable. Fashion is an invention of marketing. Music is an expression of spirituality. His aim is the expression of that spirituality alone and with others in an atmosphere of unity and harmony.
