Bio
I was born in Manchester and my parents moved out to Rochdale, Lancashire (which Spotland Road is about) when I was about two. We lived there until I was coming up to 10, when we moved to what is now Milton Keynes. I studied in Leeds (missing the last bus home too often) and have for most of the time since lived and worked in Cambridge, UK. I began playing guitar and piano in my teens and started writing songs soon afterwards. I released my first CD, The children of the sea, in December 2005, my second CD, Powder of the Stars, in January 2007 and my third CD, 'When the music ends' in April 2009. I have just recorded French versions of four of my songs and made them available as free downloads. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... -

I have also had the privilege to work with some other great artists including singers Christene LeDoux, Amanda Hall, Sandra O'Neill, Lizzie Taylor and Dave Streatfield, guitarist Jim Gosney and violinist Lis Wilson. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................... -
Influences
My song writing is influenced by many of the artists I have listened to over the years, including Christy Moore, John Lennon, Ray Davies, Eric Bogle, Bruce Springsteen and Roy Harper. Eric B had the kindness to say of Children of the sea 'Good honest songs John.' .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... -

Some very kind comments on my music include: 'John Meed's beautifully melodic heartfelt songs range across war, the world, injustice and love.' (From review at www.wereallneighbours.co.uk) 'Thanks so much for contributing in a big way to what was another very buzzy night at the Club. Thanks especially for bringing in such a great audience.' (Marion Treby, Cambridge Folk Club). You can purchase my songs from my website or from iTunes at: ......
