   John Moe's Blurbs
About me:
A federal law has been passed, the Federal Self-Promotion Act of 2006 I believe its called, that mandates everyone with something to promote or sell has to have a MySpace page. And I don't want to do anything against the law. I'm a writer and maker of fine radio content. My first book, Conservatize Me, will be published on October 3rd of this year. It's a humorous political narrative of a month I spent trying to become a conservative. I go to the Reagan Museum, a Toby Keith concert, a gun range, an Escalade dealership, a rural Idaho town. Along the way I meet with Bill Kristol and ingest massive amounts of Lee Greenwood, Rush Limbaugh, and beef jerky. I play Christian board games with my wary children. I buy a navy blue suit at Nordstrom and patriotic clothing at Wal-Mart. I go a little crazy. But I learn a lot about politics, people, and perspective. It's a fun book, hopefully smart too, for people who suspect Americans shouldn't have to hate each other as much as we're told we do. Makes a perfect gift for any liberal you know. Or any conservative for that matter. But not for anyone in the Whig Party because screw those bastards. I also write the John Moe's Pop-Song Correspondences column on the McSweeney's website. Given the name of the column, I was the natural choice to write it. Some of my writing also appears in the McSweeney's anthology Created In Darkness By Troubled Americans and the forthcoming Mountain Man Dance Moves. I was also in the book More Mirth of a Nation. I live in Seattle where, again according to the law, I am in a rock band.
Who I'd like to meet:
Book buyers, stuff readers, me appreciators.

Hey John,
Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know I really enjoyed your book - not only was it cleverly entertaining, but it also made me conscious of my own narrow-minded assumptions about the other side. Unfortunately, it is usually the extremists that get media play which fuels both red and blue stereotypes.

Anyway, it was a great read and I loved your experiences with live ammo... good stuff!

Let me say, as a huge fan of McSweeney's, I <3 you! I look forward to reading your book, which me to me sounds more like a horror than political humor!

You are one brave man, John. I salute you!
