Originally from Austin, TX, I've been performing on electric bass and singing with Dallas area bands for 20+ years.
The basis of my formal training includes childhood piano lessons and
playing viola in junior and high school orchestras.
As a high school senior, someone bought a bass guitar for me to use in his band.
With this instrument, my musical education continued in college
through private lessons and a few University Of North Texas classes,
covering the genres of Pop, R&B, and Jazz.
I now sub with local cover bands (or other musical projects).
I've been fortunate enough to fill in for:
The Mix, The Flavours, Hearsay, Dear John, Hypnotic, Moving Colors, The Heat, Good Question, and Deneyed.
I have over 6 years of experience playing in churches of various denominations, including performing contemporary Christian Pop, traditional Baptist hymns and Catholic Mass music.
I continue to volunteer for local church service bands.
This keeps things in a healthy perspective, I think.
Former projects include:
Terra Cotta (original music, for 8 years),
The Killdares (Celtic rock!),
The Larry David Group (original music),
Creature Comforts (Top-40 cover), Cover 2 Cover (Top-40 cover), Chemistry (Top-40 cover), Champagne Blonde (Top-40 cover),
and a wonderful band called Outbound (Top-40 cover).
I've had great experiences sitting in with:
The Random Axis Band, Big Daddy, Inside Out, Elle & Elle, etc.
I've loyally played the same Yamaha TRB6P I purchased in 1993 in Denton, TX, from Ron Forte.
I've just purchased a Peavey Cirrus 6.
Photos as they become available.
Liking the new bass!
The TRB6P in a couple of my photos was once a fretted instrument, bought in 1992, and it was the precursor to my current bass.
It was modified to be a fretless bass by removing the ebony fretboard and frets, then adding a phenolic fingerboard.
All work was done by Eric Anderson at Sky Guitars in Denton, TX.
Unfortunately, through my own stupidity, I lost it to a pawn shop, to pay bills, in 2000.
I will never forgive myself for that, and I'm still looking for it to this day.
I someday hope to return to Austin, though I call DFW home, for now.
