About me:

See my slightly out of date - 'mini-bio' at www.johnalanhirst.com - currently trying to return to some form of writing following continuous use of 'mighty morphine' for on-going illness - physical & mental disability problems. I am now officially retired having been a retail operations director for one of the SEARS GROUP of retail divisions. I am disabled due to severe chronic lung illness's and because of trying to control this I have been on -'high dose ' STEROIDS NEARLY ALL MY LIFE - THEY HAVE BEEN A 'GOD SEND' Saved my life - flat-lined twice - but .......... its now 'pay back time' - they leave - give you - many side effects - one of the worst being soft and/or brittle bones... 2 years ago my vertebrae collapsed - trapping nerves etc - it is not possible to operate - due to any anchor - pinning work needing - solid bones around them - and I haven't any - I will add to this later - morphine affects my concentration - and I want this site for me to use - to work and communicate positively.my Christian faith is very deep rooted I do believe in the power of prayer via the holy spirit. I am currently putting together a poetry collection called INTENSIVE CARE - Due for publication in December 2008.

Dreams are usually nice - safe - warm - 'with flowers' Add water -'sea and sand' these can be added ingrediants to relax .............. making the night a peacful passage toward a new day. note your dreams - your thoughts aspirations down motivation - and/or maybe the begginings of a lyric or a poem

Who I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet or to have met - Sylvia Plath - Tony Benn - Sarah Brightman - Alan Sugar - I really enjoy meeting people - poets - exchanging verse etc - READING CURRENT AFFAIRS - Bloggers with a satirical - political humorous view of life - its good for me to 'keep it light' and laugh. I also like to meet - help people whether they and/or family members etc have Asthma - Respiratory disease of any kind. I do believe that often children and the elderly are mis-diagnosed - and given wrong - strong drugs - 'too early' especially the main 3-4 inhalers.This masks the true symptoms which are often allergic or food based allergies. Making it difficult to 'back-track. I enjoy all forms of thriller - crime fiction - I can escape my world of sleepless - pain and hurt by reading these I AM A MONET FANATIC - I also enjoy Kandinsky - Klimt - Lowry - many other impressionists my poetry mix is large from - Sylvia Plath via Dylan Thomas to Carol-Ann Duffy plus Jane Pollard. ee. cummings Elizabeth Barrett Browning ( love her sonnets)and the wonderful war poet - Wilfred Owen I Attened TIBSHELF SECONDARY - ALFRETON - DERBYSHIRE and WINDLESTON HALL RESIDENTIAL - RUSHYFORD COUNTY DURHAM this was for my asthma - it helped healthwise but not in any education sense - but being away from home - quite ill and only aged 12 was a 'growing up quick' experience of it's own I REALLY LOVE LISTENING TO RADIO 5 LIVE - I enjoy most talk show type participation programmes - and try to contribute often in the small - 'wee hours' Let off some steam and have a good rant. Also using the blog-news sites to access up to the minute facts and comments/opinions At my age i never really expected to stay this well informed via a media tool such as the internet
