Reviews of most recent commercially released CD, "A Drunkard's Masterpiece":
"It's weird, uncompromising and, compared with anything I've heard this millennium, certainly unique. 'A Drunkard's Masterpiece' is a creative car crash of Americana, beatnik rock, poetry, prose, jazz rock, rap, screaming metal guitar, retro pop, spoken word and country noir." —Sylvia Simmons (MOJO)
"There's nobody quite like Johnny Dowd, a dapper 60-year-old Texan absurdist who recorded his first album 10 years ago. . . . Here, duetting with Kim Sherwood-Caso, he offers deadpan, lyrical opinion on his two favourite subjects—alcohol and the differences between men and women—like Charles Bukowski backed by a jazz-country funk shuffle. It's really quite brilliant, putting to shame artists half his age."—Peter Shepherd (Uncut)
Hey Johnny saw you were on and just wanted to say hi. I was in touch with you good lady wife a wee while back to see if it was ok to record a cover of your song First There Was. Just to let you know we are in the studio during December and will be sending you a copy for your approval(We hope you like it) Hope to see you in Glasgow sometime soon. I think the best gig I've seen in years was the gig you did with Hellwood in Glasgow's ABC a few years back. All the best, Paul.
Thanks for the kind words, Johnny -- it's greatly appreciated. And I really enjoyed listening to your music -- hopefully, we'll get the chance to play together someday.

Got a new song up for your critical ears. This one is about 'holding on to your humanity – when you arse is where your head is stuck'. A bit 'rockier' than other stuff by cybiont
Maybe one that could qualify to be on the next album? Looking forward to your feedback
Lord God I LOVE your offferings here, Johnny. I just can't tell ya, man. I get chills. Hope to meet you someday. I'll tell you what, lets meet in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
