I hope you enjoy your visit and my musical journey from the very start to today, Lets Start with The Beginning!...I was born in 1963 my parents are Theo and Dee Kreis, my dad is also a musician who in the 60’s played bass in a Euro Dance Band in Pasadena California with Jan Van Halen on Clarinet and his young son Alex Van Halen on drums, (alex played in the dance band in the day and at night he’d play with his brother Eddie Van Halen In what later became the legendary Rock band Van Halen. It was my dad who inspired me to play drums and at a young age of 9 he bought me my first drumset which was had Gold cardboard shells and plastic drum heads, later at 14 after becoming more proficient my dad bought me a real drumset from Sears which had wood shells with very cool silver sparkles. It was in my teens when one day my dad brought home a album
That would pave the way for me to express musical talents and ambitions, that album was The Very First Van Halen Record. I remember in junior high and high school where I told my friends that I couldn’t party with them and lock myself in my bedroom and practice playing my drums with headsets on while listening to Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Van Halen. When I was 19 I started to play in my dad’s Euro dance band called Gary Spar and The Fragments, that when I discovered beer and playing drums.
In my high school years I decided to see what the world of Hard Rock had to offer and That I wanted to play on the big stage and do rock shows, yes like millions of other musicians I wanted to be a RockStar, I started looking into the classified ads for rock
Drummer, did many auditions in the Southbay area of Los Angeles, one audition was For a band with guys that looked like girls (big 80’s hair)…didn’t get the slot but later I found this ad for a band called Shire based in Hollywood which played a more euro-style of metal/rock, like the Scorpions and I would never forget my first time in the entertainment capitol of the world when I had arraignments to pick up the bass player of Shire near The Troubadour in Hollywood for an audition and that he would be waiting under the railroad over crossing, that bass player was Izzy Stradlin, little did I know that many year later Izzy would become a Rock Icon with Guns and Roses, a few years later Shire recorded a EP on Enigma Records with producer Don Dokken and Michael Wagner of Accept fame, that
EP bombed and ended up on a discount rack, meanwhile as Shire started to breakup Izzy Was collaborating with old time friend Axl Rose, along with Chris Weber on guitar and
The inception of Hollywoodrose was made reality, I decided to leave Shire and join Izzy Axl and Chris along with bassist Andre Troxx (live shows), their style of hard bluesy metal meeting chainsaws was very intense and so different from the polished metal that permeated the Industry back then, My drumming style was filled with reckless doublebass drum beats and street rhythms. The year is now 1984 and Hollywoodrose and myself recorded our First demo, a few years later with many shows around Hollywood and internal problems, hollywoodrose broke up, and a few year after that they regrouped And later got signed to a major label. I then played drums for many Orange County Bands, like Badboys, Striker, Showdown to which brings us to these days and the new millennium, I still play with my pops old guy dance band but also play in a few original hard rock projects
The Most Current One is with Instrumental Rock Guitarist Randy Jacobs, along John Vaca on Bass visit Randy's myspace at http://www.myspace.com/wordlesstunes and check out the latest pics from our two shows in anaheim in the Adventures In Randyland Folder, also I have finished the first self-produced rock video for Randy featuring his original song entitled "Monster" for it's youtube and myspace video debut release see it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB8qGTg5ZdE
One of other projects a band that I played with that started in the late 90’s that had regrouped last June in 2007 called Harmsway of which finished playing the larger more prestigious venues like The Coach House, and The House of Blues and The Galaxy Theatre earlier in 2008 , had finished their self produced CD then disbanded! in late 2008...but have regrouped in 2009 with (the Awesome!) Janna Brunner on drums Cheers! to my former bandmates..but friends forever!.. Original Singer (r.i.p) Curt Wada, Bassist: Tommy Myers, and Guitarist: Jeffery Trott Thanks! for the many years and an incredible journey of Rock N Roll!
